The Best Quote Against Veterans Benefits Cuts

George Washington Supported Veterans

George Washington sure knew a lot about how to form a nation and how to command troops in battle. His wisdom seems to have gone full circle in founding this nation all veterans have sworn to protect.

This same wisdom did not stop when his troops finished their honorable service. In response to the treatment of veterans, George Washington had this to say:

“The willingness with which our young people are likely to serve in any war, no matter how justified, shall be directly proportional as to how they perceive the veterans of earlier wars were treated and appreciated by their nation.”

Without naming political parties, I think we can summarize the argument supporting cuts rather simply, “It’s time for all Americans, including veterans, to bear the burden of our deficit problems we got into because of Wall Street bailouts.” Out of the other side of their mouth, these same people claim a strong allegiance to the principles that guided our Founding Fathers.

In 2014, when you hear people talk about cutting veterans benefits but then swearing by the principles of our Founding Fathers, be sure to point out that we need not search further than George Washington to guide us.

The fact remains that cutting our veterans benefits will harm our National Security in the long run. And, we know that our nation’s greatest leaders, as far back as 1776, espoused this policy fact.

FACT: America’s future lies with its treatment of veterans.

Veterans need to be loud and proud this 2014.

  1. these new so call political leaders are nothing more than traitors to the American people, and they should be tried in the peoples court. if they would have put their in difference aside and did there jobs and worked with this president where would our country be today. how much better would our country be if they would have all just come together and did the right thing, rather than trying to ruin this President, they should all be a shame at what and how they did things in the last 5 years, we the people should be out there demanding that they stay at work and do there jobs, they get full time benefits and they are there part time, we could never do that so why should they. all they have done is promote hate and separation, and once again they have used the divide and conquer method along with fear and we fall for it every time. It is time for us to wake up and smell the coffee and tell them enough is enough and do there dam jobs, and if you are going to cut anything cut their pay by 50% since they are there only 50% of the time. I’m a Vietnam Veteran with Cancer and PTSD and I’m mad as hell.

    1. There is a term that comes to mind for these “patriots” in Congress that want to trim veteran support while playing with the active troops lives waging war on credit. In the Nam period we called them Chicken Hawks. Big words, little knowledge, and no military experience.

Today we have No-Nothing Chicken Hawks in congress and the Senate playing the same game, while doing the bidding of the big-money types.

If you want to know what real warriors think of both types of self-serving hypocrites (the political lackeys and the fat-cats that own them) look up the remarks of two-time Medal of Honor Winner and Marine Corps Commandant General Smedley Butler and General/President Dwight Eisenhower.
