White House Babysitter sent to VA for Scandal and Transition Oversight
Deputy Chief of Staff Rob Nabors has been assigned as the unofficial White House babysitter to Veterans Affairs starting with the Phoenix investigation two weeks ago.
Mr. Nabors will oversee VA during its transition and scandal investigation under Acting Secretary Sloan Gibson. This is likely an attempt to provide serious damage control in the run up to the elections this November.
Jay Carney was cited by The Hill stating that Mr. Nabors was staying on with VA despite the resignation of Secretary Shinseki:
White House press secretary Jay Carney said Monday that he could not “predict an exact timeline” for selecting Shinseki’s successor. In the interim, deputy secretary Sloan Gibson has taken over the department in as acting director.
“We’re going to look diligently for a new VA secretary, and we hope to confirm that successor and fill that post as soon as possible,” Carney said.
Carney also said that work on an internal review by White House deputy chief of staff Rob Nabors was continuing despite Shinseki’s resignation.
Mr. Nabors is a well known political dealmaker. Hopes were high within certain circles that his assignment to evaluate the Phoenix VA scandal on the ground would bear fruit. Though, the evasive testimony provided by VA to the House Committee last week is a likely indicator that the White House intends to play hardball.
VA redefined the Wait List as âInterim Work Productâ to justify its destruction. Based on even this bit of legalese indicates the road will be a tough one for those pushing for transparent accountability. This means that if the scandal is sorted out, it will be under very controlled circumstances.
At a time when it is clearly growing difficult to track names and backgrounds, I thought it was a good idea to highlight Mr. Nabors and his accolades while working under President Obama.

Rob Nabors is Assistant to the President and Deputy Chief of Staff for Policy and previously served as Assistant to the President and Director of the Office of Legislative Affairs. Nabors also served in the Administration as Deputy Director of the Office of Management and Budget and as Senior Advisor to the Chief of Staff.
From 1996-2001, Nabors served in the Office of Management and Budget in a series of roles, including Senior Advisor to the Director and Assistant Director for Administration and Executive Secretary. From 2001 through 2008, Nabors served on the House Appropriations Committee, eventually becoming the 13th Clerk and Staff Director of the Committee.
Nabors received a B.A. from the University of Notre Dame and an M.A. from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

It is interesting to note that the Dallas VA Director on Fox News,( so honest aren’t they?) stated, ” he was aware of some back ups with clinical settings but hasn’t heard any complaints and service.” ( who gave him the Kool Aide?) meanwhile another news station, ( whom I wrote a quick note to) is so overwhelmed with the amount of complaints and not “happy camper care.” Two songs come to mind with all this lying scandalous crap; “a Magical Mystery Tour,” OR R.E.M. ” it’s the end of the world as we know it,” ( but I feel fine-yes, Obama that seems to truly fit the delusional B.S. Veterans deal with!) hey POTUS! YOU SUCK!
Nabors visited the Phoenix VA on Thursday, May 22, to supposedly look into the problems there.
However, prior to Naborsâ visit, an email from Phoenix VA interim director, Steve Young, to whistle-blower Dr. Katherine Mitchell indicates that Naborsâ visit was nothing more than a publicity ploy to whitewash the scandal.
Young told Mitchell that Nabors would not meet with key people that could accurately portray the problems going on at the VA there.
These key people in the know would be patient advocates, union members, Suicide Prevention Team Members, Information Safety Officer staff, VA police, and nursing supervisors.
Instead Nabors only spoke to VA staff that were susceptible to retaliation and thus prone to coercion.
This means that these staff, out-of-fear for their jobs, would down-play the problems.
What a convenient strategy by the White House âCleanerâ, huh, to minimize information harmful to Obama?
To further his deception to the American public, Obama had interim VA Secretary Sloan Gibson release a press statement early this morning that downplayed veteransâ outrage over the VA scandal.
Gibson stated, âTen years of external validations have consistently shown that, on average, Veterans who use VA healthcare rate our hospitals and clinics as high or higher in customer satisfaction than patients give most of the nationâs private sector hospitals.â
Anyone unfamiliar with how the VA assuages these customer satisfaction numbers to their political benefit only needs to look at Benâs and other commenters’ blistering responses in other blog posts that show that the VA deliberately ignores external criticism of veterans who left the VA for better private medical care.
Here is a perfect George Orwell quote modified to describe what Obama is having Nabors do with the VA scandals:

I just have to state, in the fall of 2011, I had been looking for a job with no success, also relationship issues, ( amazing, we arrive at my uncles and gets in the same bed with me, my Aunt and Uncle were like “HUH?” Exactly how I felt as well too). But is had gone to the VA there that fall of 2011, to seek out treatment which should be an automatic let me in idiots, PTSD from an assault, 2xMST issues, one was a couple months “AFTER” the PTSD event. Now, this intake person I was getting pretty damned pissed off. She wanted my marriage certificate, not needed dear. “SEPARATED?” Then which AFFEES in Los Angeles, CA., I stated, “look you know where you can see it on your screen but are playing games and that is a bit of a pissing game. So why don’t you TELL ME HOW MANY DENISE L. VINCIGUERRA’S YOU HAVE HAD JOINED ON 03/29/1979? ARE YOU STATING A WHOLE LOT, BECAUSE ALL THE ONES IN SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA ARE RELATED.” ( I also let her know I left on Memorial Day Weekend, damn it, had beach plans!)
That is nothing more than a damn game, which should not happen anywhere. If I had my way? I would inspect each individuals actions and behaviors. I get it down to manageable, figure, I will get there and probably normal, but she sure was a bit fast taking that one! I state, “my history has been if the pain is worse, the BP goes up-trust me, my spine surgeon started checking others. This nurse has no authority outside the VA to say, ” just take more of that, you be fine. ( yes, writing and speaking no testing needed). Well, since I am there, I see how they operate-they are screwed! AND MR. HAYES? YOU DIDNT WANT ME TO TELL MY DOCTOR OF 18 YEARS? GET STUFFED AS THE AUSSIE’S SAY!

It’s only us veterans who know how shabbily our government has treated us, and it’s the fault of this society to continue to allow it to go on the way it is. I still remember how when I was in Viet-Nam, we would tell new replacements (FNG’s), “the only person back in the world (US) that gives a damn about you is your Mama. Nobody else does, hell they sent you over here, didn’t they?!”
Benâs right. This is why Obama called in Nabor to babysit us veterans.
Nabor was brought in to spin the VA scandal away from the White House.
Nabor was chosen because he is a âCleanerâ.
A cleaner is a political operative that creates false narratives to help fix messes that politicians create, like Obama seems to make every week.
Naborâs history of cleaning involved developing the strategy of backing the Republicans into a corner by creating a defense sequester that would be triggered in October 2012 as a negotiation ploy to help raise the debt ceiling.
Because we all know that the industrial war complex relies on the billions it receives each year from US taxpayers, and their lobbyists like to bribe RINOS to force them to acquiesce to whatever Obama wants in return for leaving the war machine alone.
To help promote the political ploy to raise taxes on poor Americans, Obama also ordered Shinseki to fear monger Naborâs defense sequester threat strategy.
In July of 2012, Shinseki told a joint hearing of the House Veterans Affairs and Armed Services committee, âWe have been informed that VA is exempt from sequestration – except for administrative costs.â
However, the consequences of Naborâs defense sequester on veterans would be the following:
1. Closing of veteransâ hospitals
2. Fewer disability claims processors
3. Longer wait times for appointments
4. Less funding for homeless veteransâ programs
5. Less funding for wounded warrior research
It is absolutely sickening that Obama and Nabor would threaten to use veterans as political hostages.
Obama and Nabor have no shame!
But Nabor has a darker side to him also.
During the October of 2013 government shutdown, there were whispers that a GOP politician had allegedly insulted Obama.
This rumor was linked to Nabor.
After Nabor was exposed, the White House was forced to apologize for the âmisunderstandingâ after the alleged insult was found to be bogus.
So, now Nabor is âcleaningâ up the VA scandal.
DO NOT EXPECT the VA to change for the better with Nabor there.
DO EXPECT that Obama will have once again evaded accountability for his willful neglect of us veterans.
DO NOT LET POLITICIANS MAKE YOU APOLOGIZE FOR YOUR VETERANSâ PRIVILEGE!
I know I have been getting fucked for 33 years by the VA over a PTSD claim from my combat service in spec ops in Vietnam. They have no orders and will not approve me because I cannot be found while in country after my arrival, serving with the 7th ARVNAirborne Rangers in 70-71. I said no shit! So, I am going to sue after my appeals are finished. The VA has always been, is still, and will always be the most corrupt govt agency in existence. Using people as FODDER then after they have real issues denying any help except drugs and therapy all the while saying that you are denied because of records. It is NOT MY JOB to track myself in combat ops.
I am experiencing the same actions. Instead of better treatment and added benefits, the V.A. has systematically denied benefits after 19 1/2 years in August, 2011. That’s when i was called in an reevaluated for my back line of duty. Reduced benefits in January, 2012.
I went from 90% disabled received two checks at my new rate, but reduced to $740. in February, 2012. VSO said not to rock the boat, they might change other ratings and I wouldn’t get any benefits!!!! All of this because i was going in for non-employability disability! At the time I had lost my part time job, July 2009. 16 1/2 years substitute teaching and a front desk clerk at a motel. I was and still taking morphine 2 times a day (reduced from 3 times in August 2013) then refused treatment until May 30th 2014 and refused travel pay because the travel clerk said i could have gone to my satellite clinic! Asshole! Kickbacks to travel clerks and their supervisors for denying benefits!
