Four Senior VA Executives Fired

Senior VA Executives

Benjamin KrauseNews just surfaced that VA Secretary Robert McDonald has seen to it that his agency fire four senior VA executives after confirming misconduct related to the wait time scandal. One senior official was even nabbed after his failed attempt to retire before a removal announcement.

These terminations are the first round following the passage of the new law by Congress this summer that allows the Secretary to fire bad employees by shortening the process termination appeals process to 28 days.

Terry Wolf was terminated from the Pittsburgh VA Healthcare System following her “unbecoming” conduct related to the Legionnaires’ disease cover up.

Susan Taylor, deputy chief procurement officer of VHA responsible for $15 billion in contracts was also fired after dishonest and fraudulent behavior was confirmed.

The director of the troubled Central Alabama VA Healthcare System, James Talton, was fired after an investigation into allegations of neglect of duty.

Last but not least, the director of the Dublin, Georgia VA Healthcare Center, John Goldman, tried to sneak out the backdoor following an announcement that he would retire after 42 years on September 22. Four days later, VA central office announced the agency had proposed removal across regional airways.

How about that? The grease ball tried to slither out of trouble but the Secretary had his official “canning” announcement broadcast across the region before he could exit stage left. Even if the timing was not intentional, I get a warm and fuzzy feeling knowing his retirement will now have a special sheen of disgrace attached to it.

Could it be that this new face of VA is more about justice than we thought?

  1. It would be nice if we could actually see how many of these individuals & others faced criminal charges & how many have actually been sentenced to jail. I have created Google alerts on the subject matter & so far nothing is coming up as to whom may have actually been handed a prison sentence. That would be true justice.

  2. This is definitely a good start and certainly hope that more heads will roll! I also FIRMLY believe that NONE of these vermin should be allowed to collect a retirement pension and IF they DO….GARNISH THEIR PENSIONS!
Also, some people need to be prosecuted and sent to jail. I am glad this is still maintaining a presence in the main stream news media and hope that this is only the start of making the VA have a “veteran’s first approach” rather than the continued skewed bonus program at all of our fellow Veteran’s expense…matter in fact, DOING AWAY WITH ALL BONUSES, would be very beneficial because the “greed factor” mixed with dastardly human greed is after all, the very INCENTIVE for all of us receiving it in the proverbial rear!
    Keep it up Ben~!
We also need to be very attentive to voting from hereon as far as any prospective elected congress person and their record on voting/supporting or not, we Veterans when we cast our ballots.

  3. What about Moreland in Pittsburgh, who was the head of the VA when the Legionnaires thing really went down? He was allowed to retire with a FULL PENSION! I emailed and wrote every Senator, US Rep and even President Obama about that. He will get a pension for letting 6 veterans die and over 16 become sick. I really hope they go after Moreland as well.

    1. Money and Loyalty only works (sometimes) in the Mob. A Veteran, A Gen. in fact, is the Under Sec. Hickey. There (According to her) 52% of the VA are themselves Veterans. That`s like saying 52% or 22% of church goers are true Christians. Just because there are Veterans working there. Don`t amount to Diddily Squat. They are Human`s. THAT is their problem. Money & Humans Are the “only thing” WRONG with this Country. Everybody WANTS everybody else`s MONEY. As long as I`m making money THAT Is ALL that matters.
Do you know a Veteran that will give up his pension SO another one can have it? Hell NO.
EVEN, If he really don`t need it. Like a millionaire getting his Social Security. If you take money out of the mix, We`ll DIE for each other. But, That`s where it stops.
We have Gen. Hickey, That LOVES the Veterans SOOO Much. The same woman that showing NO shame LIED (Several times) Under Oath to Jeff Miller & the rest of the Congressional Oversight Committee. Miller Walked her into admitting it as she proudly took credit for the Recommendation`s of the OIG`s advise on the memo “Tho we don`t agree with the LAW We will follow it because it is LAW we (will)” (Not quoted exact) She and THE REST OF these Pack of Hyenas at the top LIED about or HID the REAL numbers. And “Got Busted” my Rep. Jeff Miller & Staff. Go onto “Thomas” Library of congress. Veterans Affairs, Live streams. Watch this Crap, It`ll make you sick to your stomach. They LIE even with the threat of prosecution of Perjury hanging over their heads. Because They know No one will EVER be prosecuted. THEY KNOW IT. & So do I. And, So do you
(Harold, Not “you” personally, I mean you no harm friend) It`s just a comment, on your comment.
Most Veterans only want what`s best for their fellow Veterans. Some Don`t give a rat`s ass about anyone but themselves.

  4. A piece on the news just said that one of these is due to misconduct from 2010 and a couple others not directly related to the most recent scandal.

HOWEVER, since it used to take FOREVER for one to be fired from the VA, let us see if any more related to the most recent shenanigans are forthcoming in the near future. A good start just getting rid of dirt bags, but some heads really need to roll.

My question is, though, if one is “fired” do they still receive their outlandish tax-funded pensions?

  5. My question did they get fired and will receive NO pension? What about the federal unethical resisters or so-called whistleblowers …did they get reinstated or pension? Now that they were fired … with “DOJ” investigate them for violating US criminal laws?

  6. When is he going to tackle the vermin ridden C&P departments. “We Aint Trained” doesn’t cut it. They are very well trained to distort and deny!

  7. But the Director in Phoenix is still on the payroll? Nope, I want them all gone, then I might give a muted tentative okay to the Secretary. Shutting down the VA is the only solution.

      1. Hanging in one day at a time, no thanks to the DVA. Hope all is well with you.

  8. This is great news to me, I hope it continues. Not only to Directors but to those managers who rule with an iorn fist and fill they can retalate against former V.A. employees, whom are veterans and they were hurt by them telling lies about them and having the Disruptive Committee punish them for something they (vet) never did and ruin their good name. There is still a lot of work to be done, to insure all veterans can seek care without having to worry about going to jail and banished from care, just because an Administrative employee states the veteran said or did something, with out any evidence and the higher ups believe them and the veteran has no outlet to prove other wise. In other words not given a venue to greave or a chance to prove them wrong. Though I have been wronged, it is sights like this site that gives me a glimer of hope that their maybe justice coming. Great job Guys of keeping us informed and up to date.

  9. IT SEEMS THAT SOMEONE WAS NOT WATCHING THE ACTIVITES OF THOSE IN CHARGE. I BELIEVE THEY SHOULD SUFFER FINANCIALLY AND THE MONIES STOLEN FROM THE V.A. SHOULD BE RETURNED TO THE VETS FAMILIES THAT PAID THE HIGEST PRICE. I CAN’T IMMAGINE HOW MANY PEOPLE IN THEIR POSITIONS HAVE ALREADY GOTTEN BY WITH IT IN THE PAST. THEY HAVE NEVER EVEN BEEN SHOT AT. MAYBE THEIR RETIREMENTS SHOULD BE GARNISHED. THESE PEOPLE MAKE ME SICK.

  10. what about the hospital director in Arizonia,,,,, who was only suppended with pay

  11. This is exactly what I was hoping would happen. McDonald is sending a strong message from the top that dishonest behavior will not be tolerated under his watch. I sincerely hope the rest of the VA gets the message loud and clear. I hope we see more of this leadership in the future that will hopefully help the VA into a vets-first organization.

  12. This, I think is a good step forward, but what about those whose behaviors did harm to veterans or caused the death of individual veterans? It seems like there needs to be some people placed under arrest and put on trial for causing the deaths of some veterans. Will that actually happen? I tend to think not!
