Veterans Affairs Publishes ‘Worthless’ Marijuana Studies After Interference

VA Marijuana Studies

WASHINGTON TIMES: Veterans Affairs researchers just published two new “worthless” marijuana studies that failed to derive conclusive results after internal politics killed access to test subjects.

“I find the funds spent on regurgitating these studies to be worthless,” said Sean Kiernan, a veteran and advocate for the Weed for Warriors Project. Kiernan is a combat veteran involved with the studies conducted by Arizona-based physician Dr. Suzanne Sisley.

Sisley has been enrolling veterans in a clinical trial with the goal to evaluate use of cannabis as a treatment for PTSD. According to Kiernan, VA frustrated efforts to recruit veterans for her research.

RELATED: Congress Blocks Veterans Affairs Use Of Marijuana (2017)

“Couple that with the active blockade the VA has undertaken with [Dr. Sisley’s] study and one is left scratching one’s head on what is really going on. It doesn’t make sense unless the screams for research are intended to be words only,” he said. “They say, ‘We don’t have research,’ and then they’re blocking the rigorous research.”

Sisley said the new VA articles are “not helpful.”

“[The VA researchers are] just retreading all the same material. There’s been so many meta-analyses. The fact that government money was wasted, again ” she said, her voice trailing off.

“These aren’t controlled trials, they’re all observational studies fraught with tons of human bias,” Dr. Sisley said of the research.

It is a real shame VA fails to fully analyze the benefits of medicinal marijuana while continuing to dose veterans with highly addictive or mind altering pharmacological drugs that cost infinitely more while also putting veterans’ lives at risk.

In contravention of President Trump’s campaign promises, his Department of Justice under Jeff Sessions has been rolling back progressive advancements in marijuana policy.

When will America wake up to the heavy impact of allowing Big Pharma to lobby politicians without accountability?

Is America ready to have a grown-up conversation about pot outside the reaches of bought-and-paid-for federal regulators and politicians?

  7. Pig Pharma has been increasing its market share in other Countries. Just like when Tobacco was marketed as not being acceptable, basically the similar pressure has been put on Opiate Pain Medication Manufacturers. They found not only a larger market, but one less regulated. Just like PIG Pharma likes it, not many watching their selfish, uninformed strategies of fooling more people. – – – Nutter.

  8. Veterans Receiving Pain Medications from the VA or from Private Sector- I’ve learned a lot with all the research that I’ve done pertaining to the VA’s New Opiate Prescribing Guidelines. Let me tell you, the VA is more into looking for numbers to make the Agency look good, so that this data can be used as a reference in future articles, papers, resource, or contact, that has current doc-numbers for research purposes. Its a vicious circle with many side winding cycles of even more confusion.

But, this is what I found out. You see, Doctors who are called out for prescribing opiates in BIG quantities, and without monitoring, will say that medical information stated that Opiates aren’t addictive. So, these Physicians who wrote many scripts for Opioids heavily in the past, will deny that they contributed to our Opiate Epidemic.

There are many that are responsible for the message about addiction not consistently getting out, especially about the warnings about these types of medications, new synthetic drugs that have hit the black market, and, this is a big one, the lack of overall knowledge that the Veteran’s VA Pain Management Provider actually is aware of, like; going trends, what’s new, industry news, etc.

I say this because my VA PCP (Nurse Practitioner) prescribes my Pain Medication (Oxycodone), which put me on edge the first time that I figured out how Pain Medications are distributed through the pipelines. I’ve asked for my PCP’s credentials pertaining to Pain Management to no avail Go figure again.

Don’t bother with the Patient Advocate is you have a hot pokering problem, against Big Daddy Poppa VA. Thanks to 91Veteran’s post a while back, I will NOT waste my time in contacting the PA. Mine, a 20 year Navy Veteran, hasn’t done basically shit for my situation.

Even though, the manufacturers of opiates has known that Opiates are addictive, and many business leaders knew that the over-use of this Pain Medication, can cause outward appearance indicators of long term use, abuse of the opioid, or of something that is outright wrong, and has been going on for at least a short period of time.

Many Pain Management Specialists or PCP’s, don’t know how-to best prescribe Opiates, don’t inform their patients well enough about the dangers of these drugs, what to look for with side-effects, and other pertinent information that patients should be first informed of, BEFORE, being prescribed ANY Pain Medication for ANY medical issue of pain.

I’ve personally had problems with my PCP of what is the total monthly supply that you’re taking, how to take the Opiate, how many at one time (thankfully has only been one), how often, watching out for things noticeable when first taking Oxycodone, what to look for with long term use, and how to protect your health.

One area that my PCP have NEVER talked about, because my PCP isn’t that much into pain management, and if my PCP was into it, there’d be a lot more talking about the problems or concerns on how Pain Medications stress out our normal functions of our normal cells, tissues, organs, us as a whole.

Another area of study, that my Pain Management PCP knows nothing about, is how to flush out or to help protect, the mu-receptors from being overloaded with the stimulation of Opiate molecules bumping, then sticking to them. Keeping mu-receptors less excited or agitated, depending on how you see it, is the main objective in protecting normal biological functions of the body.

Mu-receptors run the length of our digestive system. That’s why for most, peristalsis (digestive movement), is slowed down when taking Pain Medications. Even your saliva’s amount can be effected, your eyes can’t get properly lubed, and normal flushing of the nasal airways dry up some, which then can cause nose bleeds.

And, lets not forget how the long-term use of Opiates can cause havoc on the endocrine system. Hormones can be all over the panel. Causing other ailments that many PCP’s are unaware of why these types of side effects REALLY happened.

Even with the current Opiate Epidemic is full gear and swiftly moving through our vulnerable society, even well-trained PCP’s in General Medicine, are basically clueless when knowing all about how, where, and why Opioids work in the body. God bless you folks. – – – Nutter.

  9. It gets a bit old reading this over and over again (the archaic beliefs, lies, and carelessness of the VA that is, not the reporting of it), but it’s not like I (we) expected anything different. Each time I think there might be a chance that things could change for the better, I’m let down. For two years the VA had me on 120mg of Morphine Sulfate, 3x daily. I was a zombie and my innerds were a mess. Couple that with high doses of antidepressants and my life was worthless. A year and a half ago I woke up and switched to MMJ while at the same time dropping all of the opiods and antidepressents. My pain, depression, and PTSD were suddenly completely manageable. Since then I have my life back and my friends and family say I act like “me” again. I can actually do things and have some enjoyment back. I get an earful from the VA continuously as they think I’m making a poor decision by using MMJ, but thankfully they can’t do anything about it or penalize me for it. Sadly I just moved to NY where their crazy MMJ laws require us to use an expensive pharmaceutical’ized verzion of MMJ (pill or tincture only…, no bud, concentrates, or edibles allowed) so I still have to figure things out but at least I’m not at square one and there is no way I will start using opiods again!

  10. It is high time for some real leadership at the VA. Leadership that speaks truth publicly about how bad things have really gotten. Leadership that develops solutions to take better care of ALL our nations warriors.

Leadership that recognizes that when they are doing a good job – – – it will be veterans singing their praises, rather than the VA needing a PR Agency to put out “Fluff Pieces” to mislead America.

Current VA leadership has their Brain Housing Group the size of mice and their Hearts no bigger. It is about TEN YEARS PAST TIME TO FIX THE DAMN BROKEN VA:

    1. Recognize the problems inherent in the VA are SYSTEM-WIDE, not just limited to a few locations.

    2. Fire all the Lazy No Good Workers. Fire EVERY single AFGE/SES Employee.

    3. Sell off all the VA facilities. Alternatively, they may be converted into housing for homeless veterans.

    4. Issue all veterans a card that allows them to choose their own doctors within their community that they can TRUST.

    5. The United States Government will PAY those doctors promptly (Within 45 days) for the care they provide veterans.

    6. ELIMINATE the “Federal Protection” Umbrella for incompetent QUACKS that the VA sends to other states to practice other than their own. Going to practice in Hawaii? You need to be LICENSED in Hawaii. Same applies to all other states.

    7. Any claim a veteran submits to the VBA that requires more than 90 days to adjudicate, is automatically found to be in favor of the veteran. If a VBA claim filed by a veteran is found to be a false one designed to scam the system, the VA will have to prove in civil court that a false claim was intentionally submitted.

    8. All veterans will be allowed to seek/retain the services of a Veterans Rights Attorney from their first initial contact with the VA.

    9. No AFGE, nor any other Labor Union business will be allowed to take place in any Federal Workplace. Conducting Union Business during working hours will be STRICTLY PROHIBITED, and will be STRICTLY ENFORCED. Should any government employee be found violating this provision, it will result in IMMEDIATE LIFETIME DISMISSAL FROM ANY/ALL GOVERNMENTAL EMPLOYMENT.

    10. Attorneys for appeal will be retained at the former employee’s PERSONAL expense. U. S. Taxpayer’s will not be subject to payment of legal bills for incompetent or dishonest personnel with regards to Governmental Employment.

You have my contact information Mr. Secretary. Call me anytime. I have a lot of ideas to help you improve the services provided to my fellow veterans. I will not hesitate to speak up at all.

For my fellow veterans who have been ill-served by this CLUSTERFUCK of a train wreck called the VA over the years:

Our battles overseas were far less stressful than our war here at home. Never Cruel or cowardly. Never Give Up. Never Give In. We are on the Righteous path.

POTUS Reagan broke up PATCO in the ’80’s. Time for POTUS Trump to break up the AFGE. Most of our current Congress Critters do NOT have Veterans Interests at heart. Perhaps their replacements will. VOTE OUT all these WORTHLESS INCUMBENTS.

Give their replacement’s one term to take care of Veterans who put aside their own personal lives to answer this nation’s call when she needed them. Many of those Veterans suffer the remainder of their lives for doing what most of their countrymen had not the courage to do.

If they cannot MUSTER THE STONES to do it properly – – – vote their worthless asses out as well. Party should NOT MATTER. What SHOULD MATTER is their VOTING RECORDS ON VETERANS ISSUES.

Rhetoric is cheap. Congressional Voting Records speak louder than words.

NO Combat Veteran should be surprised when the next McVeigh or Congressional Baseball Team Incident occurs. Bound to happen. Just a matter of time . . .

We have now reached the next accelerative phase of our country falling apart. Country before Party. Principles before Personalities. Always.

Want to REALLY fix the VA? The next SecVA needs to be a former Enlisted Man with a few serious axes to grind against the VA and the AFGE. Apparently, Former Flag Officers and SES appointed Civilians can’t cut the mustard . . .

Maybe a SINCERELY MOTIVATED Gunnery Sergeant or Chief Petty Officer CAN.

  11. The Next Pharmaceutical Epidemic- Ant-Psychotic Medications (like Abilify)- the PIG PHARMA isn’t cooperating in being transparent on the side effects of these types of medication. And, they VA is prescribing to people who have impulsive disorders, and the addictive type of behavior that this drug causes upon its legal users, service / emotional therapy animals, spouses, care takers, friends, love ones, plus anyone else who gives a shit. Damn, y’all just step right on up, and in. There yo go. Snacks and refreshments are at the back, see the ice cream line for the kiddies. Oh, and we here at the VA, have kiddie day onced a years.

Who’s the VA trying to snow job? I know, “all of us.” In a mood tonight. – – – Nutter

  12. Instead of just jabber jawing at the chew, some one with enough BALLS AND MONEY needs to sure the $hit out of the VA!!! This talking until you die crap is old….

  13. All the same for VA and military health studies. Predetermined outcomes for political correctness which often means sticking it to veterans.

  14. Finding veterans to participate in the study.?

Veteran’s are very aware of what the VA is capable of doing to veterans everyday.

Veterans do not trust the VA, they will take my pain medication away. They will take my disability away.

Did they lace the marijuana with something !

Does big pharmacy telling the VA it’s bad Or if they let veterans use medical marijuana the cost of other medications will have to go up in cost.
Are the veterans going to be bombarded with questions and make them uneasy, give them written tests.

How are the studies conducted.? If and when medical marijuana is legalized the VA will try and take credit and big pharmacy will jump on the money train and blame the VA for the hold up for not letting veterans care for themselves using a medication that has helped thousands of veterans.

They would rather dish out strong medication that makes you an addict or stop those medications When the veterans are deemed no longer useable and stops their pain medication.

Want to see a veteran kill himself or I’ll bet you that veteran will kill himself within a week !
How are you going to do this.?
Its simple stop their medication and sit back and watch.

Hell I done it a hundred time’s and it worked every time and if not right away, no worry the veterans will use heroin or crack or something and will kill themselves with an overdose.

Sessions must have tried some bunk weed and got ? ! Week mind after all !

Veterans will use medical marijuana no matter what the VA says. The VA is holding the veterans medication as a threat to control them.

Dennis let’s be a test subject, but we pick what strain is used.

The VA would probably do something stupid, like having someone jump out and hollar BOO !
    Dumb butts.

    1. @James — Actually, it’s quite more often than not, that those that are incredibly outspoken on something to the fringe of ridiculous, are often those that are later arrested for being slopping and getting caught with their own large personal stash…or even worse, as in some religious figures, sexually abusing the very children they espouse to be protecting from evil…wolves in sheep’s clothes.

Another example: Fundamentalists couple Tammy Faye Bakker (mascara queen/ex-prostitute) and Jim Baker….when on the down-low, Jimmy was a felon.

Same for those vehemently against something like cannabis….even if it’s sour grapes because they can’t figure out how to exploit it and package it and make $$$$ from it…cat’s already been out of the bag for some time.

Sessions is a bit spooky, if you ask me. Spooky Sessions. (also kinky)

  15. Is anyone surprised? Would anyone be surprised when VA quacks, policy makers and politicians point to this bullshit as positive evidence that MJ doesn’t work to treat any condition?

For over 20 years I watched as the VA and DOD pissed away boatloads of money on BS research which only showed more research was needed, or that any illness reported by Gulf War vets was simply stress. It was only when SOME research money was taken away and given to the Research Advisory Committee did we see positive research being conducted, even if it were to rule out certain causes.

It is infuriating when research money is wasted when the intention is to produce a political outcome, yet the VA does it repeatedly.

If they truly believed X illness would not be treated by Y treatment, then they should have the guts to back it up with credible research. If not, they should just shut the fuck up and continue wondering if leeches should still be used as medical treatments.

Do I use medical MJ? No. But this should be an easy question to answer without the political bullshit added in.

    1. @91Veteran – “[… If not, they should just shut the fuck up and continue wondering if leeches should still be used as medical treatments….]”

Leeches and Zombie Dust, never a good combo nor outcome outside the grass hut.

  16. The VA is part of the plan, to keep Big Pharma in cash for pushing narcotics.
They don’t fool anyone and the Vets know it!!!
    Drain the VA Sewer!!!

  17. @Benjamin Krause- Suggestion for Ease of Use- Ben, anyway to add a sub app on WP’s format applied to your site, one that would post the date and time of the last new post uploaded? Some subscribers like myself, don’t tag for notices under the original comments. Thanks. – – – Nutter.

  18. Want the short and sweet? If the government cannot tax it and big pharmaceutical companies can’t make money off of it, won’t happen. This has nothing with DOJ worried about the evils of Marijuana. While I’m not a fan of cannibis, the opioids are worst and destroying this country.

    1. What is hurting this country is the damn dumb ass Physicians that prescribe these types of meds w/o close monitoring. Each State has a Pharmacy laws that keeps track of each person’s script history, especially the tracking of Opiates. And, many of our enriched deeper pocket trust doc’s, won’t run a person’s name to check on their script history. Its the damn doctors fault. Doc’s are required to know ALL about the meds they prescribe. And, the VA Doc’s played a HUGE part in this epidemic. Most illegal Opioids are found on the street since DEA and such, has put their foot down, and to do this was well needed. Doc’s don’t want to admit that it’s their colleagues fault for the prescription side of the epidemic in our Country. It’s all a nice show, because these doc’s are protected, and they’ll keep on trying to push the blame on someone else. – – – Nutter.

    2. Prior to my enlistment, I smoked pot, a lot of pot. After my enlistment was up I self medicated with mass amounts of alcohol. Alcohol led to a personal and professional downward spiral. While I do take many VA issues meds, I’ve often wondered if hitting the old bong would be better for symptom relief. It’s been about 25 years since I’ve inhaled. The only hazard I encountered when stoned was eating a pint of Ben and Jerry’s chunkey monkey ice cream in about 30 seconds

      1. Always better to have eaten a pint of chunky monkey than to awaken in morning next to…a chunky monkey.

      2. honestly, it depends on your symptoms and what your medicating for. Do some research but I suspect you’ll find cannabis is useful in a whole range of ailments. I mean if nothing else, you’ll get good and baked and life won’t seem so bad anyways. Speaking of…

  21. A 89pg complaint against Jefferson Beauregard Sessions & Charles Rosenberg was filed 7/24/17 in N.Y. by attorney Michael S. Hiller, claims that the federal govt does not believe & never has believed that cannabis meets or ever met the three Schedule I requirements: high potential for abuse, no medical use in treatment & no ability to be used or tested safely, even under medical supervision. I hope they win!

  22. Let me explain what I know about government marijuanna studies. Since marijuanna prohibition was implemented any official study was completely hamstrung by federal regulations. Let me explain.

In order to perform a study of the drug it had to be obtained through official government supplies. The government created a small lab(s) to provide “official” marijuanna for the sanctioned studies. Here is where even good intentions torpedoed every single study conducted to gauge efficacy of the drug. Phillip Morris donated used tobacco cigarrette rolling machines for the government lab on the idea that the machines could “dose” consistent joints like they can with tobacco.

(My hunch is that the “donation” netted them “something” they wanted but they wouldn’t have been savy enough to realize that this donation would kill studies of a potentially competitive smoking product, right? Right??? Tell me men are not that evil….)

Here is where it fell apart. Marijuanna has an active ingredient known generally as “THC”. THC is very sticky. Much stickier than components of tobacco. Any grade above about 4% THC and the plant becomes so sticky that the used automatic joint rolling machines donated by the cigarrette tycoons malfunctioned immediately. Rice papers used for cigarrettes and joints are VERY thin and fragile and the sticky THC was completely incompatible for, higher grades of marijuanna. Medical grade marijuanna, for reference, in Oregon currently clocks in around 15-20% THC and extractions for medical use are MUCH higher; up to and including 100% THC for heavy duty chronic pain relief.

So every single federally sanctioned study was hamstrung because for one thing the government joint rolling machine was only capable of rolling up skunky bunk shit that smells like green hay burning. It would be like conducting a study on the effects of alcohol then only supplying near beer, and then making conclusions about the effects of alcohol. In short, govenment joints are shit and it is ONLY the “shit” that federally funded research can legally provide. Pretty nice, huh?

Want to bet a millionth of the VA budget, that it is this type of insanity that still grips the issue? In Oregon there are those of us that have chosen to research this medicine on our own and baby we do not give a shit about govenment joints.

    So what is my point? First of all my point is that if you took the bet I might become VERY rich. The second point is best pointed out by our public servant friends at AFGE who describe their greatest aspirations as federal workers in this life;

AFGE’s motto was established as “To Do For All That Which No One Can Do For Oneself”. Sounds like a government idea to me.

Well, I guess they made me do this one for myself, eh? Maybe that is the whole point, after all.

    1. @Dennis – “[AFGE’s motto was established as “To Do For All That Which No One Can Do For Oneself…]”
Real-life in-practice: “To Do TO All That Which No One Can Do TO Oneself”, and what would that be? Can’t screw oneself so easily so do it to all those you’re serving, including taxpayers and veterans.

      1. Indeed Namnibor. It is exceedingly difficult to perform anal sex on oneself while restrained. This is where the federal government steps in…

      2. That study was a tragic and twisted combination of VA “Hungry, Hungry Hippos” & “Twister” and all study material had to be shredded as the engorged purple mass became one blob.

      3. How about a study in which we require all VA folks inhale THC prior to every work shift and see if they begin to treat veterans as humans instead of test subjects and practice dummies.

Maybe if they got stoned once a day they would perceive veterans as “human” instead of “inventory”. Let’s study that! A yearly bonus could be an extra joint each month if you produced happy customers and my brothers and sisters a good Oregon grown joint, hand rolled, would be worth the extra effort!

      4. @Dennis – I quite like that and I am assuming that you took into consideration that the VA vending machines would then have more than just 48different types of melba crackers…and…we would have a situation in which the VA Engorged Purple Teams may have to make every VAMC 24/7 open for business because I am betting they will become too engorged to leave as long as the vending machines keep stocked. Conveyor belts on the restocking of vending machines would be a very small price to pay in order to be treated like a human.

      5. @namnibor
trust me when I tell you about super duper potent marijuanna and exactly how to handle the whole Melba Toast stand down that would occur. You first stock the vending machines with super thick all natural organic peanut butter packets in one half of the machine and marshmallow soft black licorice candy from New Zealand in the other half. This will handle ALL the munchie chores in an ordely and entertaining way if you first provide decent smoke.

Then, pipe in some Harry Belafonte music and promise them bananas if they perform well (and thecustomers are happy) and studies show that in most primates this will properly motivate the crew to behave. I figure that we are primates too right, although the opposable thumb and keen intellect have enabled us to achieve greater things like the atom bomb than a stupid chimp could figure out. However, at our core we too are just primates so youmhave to admit the idea has merit.

(NOTE: I in NO WAY receieve any kickbacks from New Zealand licorice producers. It is more of a blanket purchase agreement sort of thing.)

      6. @Dennis — My brain is trying to imagine mixing the flavors of New Zealand Marshmallow Black Licorice and Organic Peanut Butter, all in same mouthful, with the obligatory melba toast cracker or without.
It may be too tempting and the engorged purple teams may try mixing the two, causing perm. bad taste-memory, and back to drawing board.
Unless… that could be employed as a hidden tactic in which if the two are ever combined, it will be equiv. to mixing part a and part b of epoxy. 🙂

      7. Don’t forget the piping in of an innocent scent that stimulates not the thought process. Makes it kind of frozen or stuck. – – – Nutter.

      8. maybe you will consider “mandatory marijuana” as a social policy. I am promoting this new cause. required marijuana use. for everyone. just like vaccines. especially VA workers. can you imagine walking into a VA where workers are smiling, telling jokes, laughing with the clients/patients. i can imagine it, that’s why mandatory marijuana platform. i’ll be back with more details of how we can implement this plan. bless.

  23. Sigh….here we go again. people demanding pot which is against federal law, and yet completely ignoring Marinol (dronabinol) which does the EXACT same thing for pain and does it far better, and does not get you “high” as pot would. And what makes even less sense in this discussion, is that Marinol (dronabinol) is already authorized by both the US Congress AND the AMA for use for pain-for cancer-for chemo-etc. The ugly little fact in this case is if there is already a drug that does what “pot” is supposed to do AND does it better AND is legal, then why are people fighting so hard for the other which IS illegal and DOES NOT do as well for Patients? I have been using this drug prescribed by my VA doctor for over 7 years with astounding results. Less pain and far more manageable. Drastically slowed the leg from major atrophy, allowing me to use it far more then before. And drastically cut back on the major pain from nerve damage (CRPS). This works people so why fight the VA and the US Government when there is already something here for people to use and has been here for over 22 years.

    1. @Dan- Not every Dr. wants to even RX Marinol or better said, most Dr.’s will not RX Marinol because they do not want to be under even more scrutiny for RXing it nor step on the shoestrings of Pig Pharma.
Not even my civilian Specialists wish to be associated with RX’ing Marinol. In early days of my health crap I was indeed on Marinol and it was NOT as effective as straight-up MMJ, and that even goes for nausea and pain.
Oh, I definitely got “high” when taking Marinol…it was very much like a pot brownie and took as long.
Marinol is NOT the panacea you make it out to be because it’s NOT as efficient and THAT is why the MMJ issue is front and center.

      1. Never said it was a panacea Namnibor, just said it was available and that it does in fact work for some people. And medication effects each person differently. Take my brother Deane for instance. A drug that is used to calm hyper people down before a medical treatment does the exact opposite for him.

Have you tried CDB? Thats also legal and takes a small amount of THC and mixes it with painkillers. And the best part is that is also legal.

      2. legal legal legal. who cares. cbd is another pharmaceutical product made by big pharma and is made from gmo cannabis plants. true healers boycott cbd oil and share the word that it is just more pharma b.s. to keep plant products and plants from the people.

      3. So you want to use an illegal substance that can cause you to be banned from all VA facilities and lose your VA benefits and in some states the right to vote because having pot in your system on a VA facility CAN be considered as a federal felony…and you say I am an idiot.

      4. Dan and namnibor,
I’ve never heard of “marinol”! I’ve been diagnosed with “peripheral polyneurapathy of ALL four extremities” since 1979. Plus other disabilities due to my Vietnam combat service! Plus, Agent Orange! Must not forget what that crap did to my body!

Not one VA or civilian physician has ever mentioned “marinol” ever!

As far as I’m concerned, “medical marijuana” should be made legal. Years ago, I used pot to help with many “maladies” I’ve suffered from. Only when the “push” by VA to releave vets of their compensations if they used, did I stop.
It may, or may not, help all vets. Only each one should be given the opportunity!

That’s said, when VA can do good honest correct research, and tell the damn truth, then it should be up to veterans on how they “treat” their own bodies!

      5. I remember seeing something like “Marinol,” this was back around ’85 in Kailua-Kona, Hawaii. The person that was taking this med was a close friend of mine. Whatever it was called, it didn’t work in any measurable manner, because my friend was always toking on those Mountain or Puna District Sweet and Tight Kola Buds.

      6. I agree 100% with you, but it makes no sense to break the law and take a chance on being cost our hard earned VA medical benefits for doing it

      7. @Dan Dapper Dan – – – This Vet is tired of all the VA’s bullshit. Led me all over the place, still not well. These wipes don’t even probe with good medical observation techie questions. I’d be asking and expecting to damn much. Idiots, most of them. Really in a mood. I’m going shopping, that’ll fix everything. Until the next bill. – – – Nutter.

      8. You need to do what works for you, just remember not to go onto a VA reservation with this in your system if you are going to have to take a blood test or a pizz test.

      9. CBD is purchased legally all over in brick house for profit facilities, and many online and wired up companies. Plus, many of them have Compassionate Programs, that assist at and on a different level. I hate taking Oxycodone. And, if I had the support, monies, connections, plus I was able to obtain most of the necessary items for comfort, then this would even make my endeavors more betta. – – – Nutter.

    2. hey Dan fuck you and fuck your butthole surfer buddy Jeff Sessions. What the fuck business is it of yours how I handle my fucking problem as long as it doesn’t impinge upon another persons personal and/or property rights?

I bet you keep a pair of jack boots in your closet you fucking tory.

      1. So this is how you reply Chylde? Like a broke down 3rd grader? Please go ahead and smoke as much as you want, and then go to a VA and have to take a pizz test or a blood test because the doctor wants you to and let them find this in your system. You will get turned over to the police faster then you can say spit. And then when you come back to the VA and set one foot on their property, they can then search your car and God help you if they find anything as since the VA is a federal agency, the property they sit on is federal meaning any crime committed on that property is and will be considered a federal felony. get convicted of that and you lose everything, any VA pension or the ability to even go to the VA and in some cases depending on your state, the right to vote.

So you keep acting like a child, sooner or later its going to come back and bite you on the rear.

      2. I can’t even believe that people are still actually this fucking stupid about cannabis.

Oh and since you don’t know. I’ll never EVER set foot in a VA hospital for ANY medical condition physical or otherwise as I already have insurance. Also the VA is already well aware of my cannabis use and since I’m in a medically legal state and use in full compliance the VA can’t do shit about it.

Also, since my medication is in a sealed medication bottle and never opened in the car let alone left in the car there is ZERO chance any VA associate would even suspect there had ever been marijuana in my vehicle.

I also hate to tell you that nobody is going to “THE BIG HOUSE” because of a miniscule amount of weed so please grow the fuck up and stop with the reefer madness propaganda.

Maybe you should loosen up the laces on your boots…looks like your loosing circulation to your brain.

      3. Sorry Chylde, but it makes no bloody difference what your state said or did. The Same US Constitution you swore to uphold and protect says The Supremacy Clause of the United States Constitution (Article VI, Clause 2) establishes that the Constitution, federal laws made pursuant to it, and treaties made under its authority, constitute the supreme law of the land. … Even state constitutions are subordinate to federal law. Meaning that the DOJ can come in and bust EVERY pot store in the US no matter what the state said as the laws they passed are in violation of the US Constitution So maybe you should take your own advice and loosen up your belt because it is clearly denying your brain any blood or oxygen and showing that you have no idea what you are talking about. But then again we will probably get yet another 3rd grade rant from you in response.

      4. federal law applies in washington dc and the territories (colonies). not in the states. the constitution does not apply federal law as a blanket law over the states. you’re wrong. states are NOT subordinate to feds. that is more lie. you are a liar.

      5. Sorry but Federal law applies all over the US You are completely wrong in your statement and if you ask any attorney or even a prelaw student, they will tell you the same thing. Please have some knowledge of what you are talking about before you open your mouth again and show what a fool you are.

      6. Dan – does the VA really give a shit? Has anyone ever been turned over to the cops? At least in the last decade? My docs have told me that they might be slightly interested if, and only if consumption of THC is counter-indicated to a treatment – the only example cited (by two PCPs) was congestive heart failure). I’ve had two docs – one specialist suggest – off the record of course – CBDs topically for musculo-skeletal stuff.

      7. Yes. As a matter of fact 3 in Penn-5 in Michigan-2 in Indiana-6 in Ohio and 9 in kentucky have all been turned over to the VA police. In fact the 2 in Indiana actually had their cars searched with drug sniffing dogs and both were banned from that VA location. You might have heard of this place, its the Richard A. Roudebush VA Medical Center in Indianapolis

      8. Dan,
I go to the messed up Roudebush VAMC and I did not hear ANYTHING of this happening. Put on here proof of the ones that got turned over to the VA police. Put article links or something to prove what you have stated here. Do you have proof of this?
        f8f

      9. If you go to the hospital, then ask them. Or contact the Indianapolis Star or the Indianapolis Times as it made it into both. And I bet that you didnt even know the Roudebush VAMC was under audit either but since you went there you should have known…right?

      10. Dan, When was this? put a link to the story. Put the proof of what you say. If it happened and you know it did. put the proof. Otherwise this is just hearsay and nothing else.
Which investigation are you talking about? To just say “an audit” does not say anything. Again put the proof on here. A link is all it takes.
Just because I go there does not indicate that I know everything that is going on at that place. It has caused me nothing but problems since I have been there.
        No proof, no belief.
        f8f

      11. Then ask them yourself since you go there or ask the Indianapolis Star or ask the USA Today as all of them had stories about this. And since you go to the hospital I am sure that you know they were investigated….right?

      12. Just as I thought. Go troll somewhere else. You cannot prove a thing. So you are nothing. No proof. No believe.
I can prove something if I state they were being audited. like in 2014 when over $1 million dollars of medical equipment was missing.
See it isn’t that hard to do. For some reason you have no trouble saying things you cannot back up. Wonder why that is? You stated this and then you want me to do what you cannot. Hummm???
Also are they being audited or investigated? you stated audited in one reply and investigated in the other. You need to keep your stories straight.
        f8f

      13. No troll here but you. IF you go to the Hospital as you claimed you do, then you would have heard about them and what they did to the vets AND you would know they were under audit. Since you obviously dont know of this (and we up in the FT Wayne Indiana VMAC had heard about it and so did the FT Wayne Journal Gazette. So by you saying you dont know anything about it clearly shows that you dont use the Indiana VAMC system in any way.

Thanks for blowing up your post and showing it as false.

      14. If the VA is locking up veterans who come up hot for cannabis on a urine test, then why isn’t the VA testing and punishing its employees?

I reported a coworker for suspected cannabis use and they opted to fire me and didn’t even bother to test her.

      15. Also, it was found out recently that there was a vast amount of VA Pharmacy RX’s missing from inventories and it was found employees were using the VA Pharm. as their personal stash. I wonder if drug tests are against AFGE policy?

      16. dan the new world order promoter: fyi, anyone who would allow the va to screen their urine or blood for cannabis is an idiot. you trust va doctors? hahaha. you bow and scrape to va doctors you idiot. stop talking here.

      17. No I dont, but when you are given a choice of doing this or walking away from the medical that you fought to get, what are you going to do.

And the idiot I see here is the one that looks back at you from your morning mirror

      18. Dan,
My brother is a 30% service connected disabled vet. He smokes pot for the fun of it. Plain and simple. He has smoked it going to an appointment at the VA and was piss tested at that appointment. He has NEVER had a problem with the VA taking away anything from him. He actually is prescribed Percocet for RLS and has been for several years.
So I know for a fact what you are trying to push is pure BS. If that works for you, great, take it. If it does not work for someone else, then that is fine as well but do not preach about what WILL happen when it appears you are giving hearsay advice. IF MJ got along with me, I would take it. I will most likely have to find another way to deal with my pain as my pain med will be going away. The STUPID state of IN and the Roudebush VAMC does not care if you are getting helped by an opioid pain med. It will be gone.
Stop saying what will happen when you cannot know if it will or will not.
        f8f

      19. And that was under Obama who allowed pot stores to open in states even though it was still a federal crime. If you have not noticed yet we have a NEW President and SAG Sessions has already stated he is going to start cracking down on these AND he has instructed the Sec of the VA to crack down on this as well. And its already happening. Just because they have not got to your brother yet does not mean they wont.

      20. Dan, he has been doing this way before Obummer. He has NEVER had a problem with it and his benefits and/or healthcare. I seriously doubt he ever will.
The NEW President may be funding the countries that supply the drugs just as they have previously done.
        f8f

      21. Wyldechyidie why you should have to swear if you saying about the Veteran Affairs Committee it’s okay.

      22. Don’t forget the Gov’t. Issued and Certified Olive Drab Butt Plug. It keeps that anti-MMJ bug far-up Dan’s ass. 🙂

    3. Btw Dan a quick 10 second search for marinol side effects turned up this little gem of a page. “https://www.drugs.com/cdi/marinol.html” It’s awfully funny how pretty much 85% of that page is taken up by side effects and effects on the body. Hows that liver and those kidneys Dan? Oh also hows the old thinking cap? No new or worsening mental illness yeah? Wait did I forget to take my marinol? Let me take another one just to be sure. Oh dear I think I may have OVERDOSED christ wheres the phone. So again let me reiterate “Fuck you and fuck your Federally legal marinol too.”

      1. BTW Chylde, You would do far better to look it up on the AMA webpage (American) instead of a webpage where 99.9% of the people who are running it are in New Zealand and Australia

      2. Excuse Me- Unofficial Internet Monitoring Service (free version)- Com’n people, now can’t we get along to at least solve something. Carry on. – – – Nutter.

      3. Don’t waste your time guys. This dud is operating on another frequency.By the way I had a urine test the other day and my doc said ” smoking a little weed huh?”. I said no, I’ve been using my canna butter for my depression. He asked how it was working, I said GREAT! That was the end of that short discussion.

      4. As I asked Chylde, since when is follow the law, and the Constitution; the same ones YOU swore an oath to follow, is now not a good thing. Are you admitting your oath and word is not worth anything?

      5. BUSH said it was a outdated piece of paper …Do you think him and other politicians go by the Constitution…I think not….they wright laws for us not them

      6. So you have shown yourself to be the fool, good to know. And since when is following the law drinking government kool aide?

      7. I respond how I am responded to. If people dont like it then tough too bad. I am too darn old to kiss anybody’s rear.

      8. I must confess, there has been a big reduction in the amount of Gubmint flavored Kool-Aid. This doesn’t even sound good. Damn. – – – Nutter.

    4. sorry dan, but you’re wrong. marinol is a synthetic thc isolate. it is the whole plant resin extract that is the healing and curing powerhouse.

please stop lying. we don’t care what congress authorizes. we know truth.

      1. Sorry child, but I am correct. My information comes directly from the AMA, and the Cleveland Clinic as well as from the Ohio Medical College which are two of the top hospitals in the US. So the one that is lying is clearly you.

So tell us einstein, exactly where did you get YOUR fake info from?

      2. the AMA has no credibility neither do those other mainstream pharma agents. einstein was a fake as well. you’re not doing too good here.

      3. Sorry, but the AMA has far more credibility then either you OR I so in citing them I have far more credibility then you

  24. @Ben Krause,
Down here in Florida, there’s a VERY, VERY wealthy attorney’s group, (Morgan & Morgan), who have been pushing our state legislature to make “medical marijuana” legal! The firm is well known ALL across America!
Mr. John Morgan, the head of the firm, has been involved in receiving great information from studies! The reason behind his push, is due to his brother having a debilitating disease!

Maybe, you could contact Dr Sisley and Sean Kierman, to have them team up with John Morgan’s firm over this issue!
    The contact information is;
    (407)420-1414 Orlando Fl. Office
    Roll free numbers are;
    (877)667-1414
    &
    (888)627-4004
    Or, they could google his website at;
“Morgan and Morgan” to get directly to his main office in Orlando Fl.
    Hopefully this helps!

    1. Mr. Morgan is a godsend to the movement

“We don’t negotiate with bullies or prohibitionists”

A firebrand if ever there was one.

  25. I use a fairly purified form of marijuanna known as an extract, which I obtain legally in Oregon then further purify it to nearly pure form of THC9, the most active component. I have posted extensively on the internet videos of purification techniques because I believe so thoroughly in the efficacy of the medicine.

I use it for relief of severe chronic PTSD symptoms, severe nueropathy, chronic severe pain, anxiety relief, and relief from sleep deprivation and it has replaced a total of 7 VA drugs prescribed for these things plus it also replaced the opiates/opiods also prescribed by VA for the pain management. Oregon recognizes the efficacy of the drug for these purposes and was the first to decriminalize the drug, then legalize it for medical use. It is now legal for any adult to grow and posess/use it here within limits.

I got my life back. The horrific drug cocktail VA fed me twisted my thoughts and life around. I became the walking dead. I found a drug that works better. Purified THC works without any question and I can even sleep at night now without terrors. Sleep deprivation is the core psychiatric problem frankly that PTSD is responsible for with me. Just try going three days without sleep then you will understand a PTSD episode pretty well in day three.

Of course VA will not recomend this. This is absolute proof that it must work pretty good. Remember when we talk about government we are talking idiots like Jeff Sessions. Jeff is a liar yet he is in charge of sending men wih guns to chop down marijuanna plants lolz! What a moron.

    Wikipedia has a page called, “List of Federal Political Scandals in the United States”. VA is on the list of course. They lie. Jeff Sessions is on the list. He lied too;

“Jeff Sessions, Attorney General, lied under oath to the Senate Judiciary Committee on January 10, 2017, stating that he “did not have communications with the Russians”. On March 1, 2017 he has amended his statement to the opposite. He has not been charged with a felony.”

Do you inow what happens to you or me when caught lying under oath to Congress? We go to jail.

Here is a man that as AG has stated that all marijuanna users are “bad people” and that marijuanna use is “… only slightly less harmful than heroin use…” Well Jeff, just were does lying about hob-nobbing around with communist Russians and flapping your gums around them land you?

Jeff is a liar. VA lies. These are documented facts. Just go look for yourself at that page and carve out three hours to read the impossibly long list of folks in Washington DC lying, cheating, stealing, raping, molesting, masturbating in public, and assault, and all manner of corrupt activities and ask yourself, “Do I trust anything AT ALL that this extensive list of liars say? Holy shit, these are the people in charge and this can ONLY be the shit we KNOW about. Just the 10% that gets caught.

Now ask youself if you honestly believe they are going to do anything at all to fix the system. Ask yourself if any of the folks in DC do anything at all but self enrichment, self gratification, and self promotion. Of course, I could be lying about the Wikipedia page existing.

EVERYTHING presented as fact by VA is most generally a lie, hidden in a lie, hidden in a lie. Then we put a man like Sessions in charge of the law??? I gotta say, POTUS, you screwed the pooch on that one. Now wake up Mr. President, and get your shit together. Try using your trademark slogan one more time. Promote Jeff to citizen sir, then smoke a doobie, chill out a bit, and try your damndest to find somebody that does not lie to hire. Then honor your word sir, and help the American veteran – pass him your joint and let the poor bastard light up in peace and get some godamn relief!

    1. Dennis, one of the best defenses against this kind of fake research is if other researchers have studied it an came to the opposite conclusion.

Do you know if Oregon looked at medical research before legalization?

Of course, that leads to the next problem, the VA being so influential in whether research is funded or facilities are used.

  26. If this were a clinical study on meth and crack, Veterans would not stand a chance either because all the engorged purple teams are obviously already enrolled in meth and crack studies.
I know from my own observations, that MMJ is vastly more effective and safer for PTSD and PAIN than *any* of the POISON the VA dispenses with a grimace.

    1. BTW– That “Grimace” that administers the VA’s pharmaceutical poisons is not to be easily confused with a large purple mascot employed by McDonald’s called ‘Grimace”. Same shape, color, and form-factor and linguistic utterings, but not the same.

  27. After six months of a new Administration, I am very disappointed that the VA seems to be on a path of business as usual. Veterans are dying, promises have been made, and Veterans are still dying.

  28. cost infinitely more while also putting veterans’ lives at risk….That’s there plan to begin with…
