Gulf War Cover-up Exposed

Gulf War Anthony Hardie

There was lots of testimony today for VA whistleblower Steven Coughlin. Coughlin worked in the VA’s Office of Public Health but resigned over “serious ethical issues” including stealing money from Gulf War research.

Journalist Jamie Reno did a good interview of him for The Daily Beast. There, Coughlin hammers the VA for a variety of fraudulent behavior ranging from point blank lying to the American Public to falsifying reports to cover-ups. Read it here: Whistleblower: Veterans Affairs Covered Up Data On Mental Health, Gulf War Syndrome.

Yesterday was the big day for him and others to voice their positions about the VA cover-up that should be nothing more than shocking. It was obvious to me, a self-declared VA fuck up consumer, to see that the VA panel was nervous. It was also painfully obvious that the VA panel was lying at times, and hedging their bets at other times.

I am still unclear as to why the House Committee no longer swears in VA employees given their proclivity for misleading the Committee.

As I said a month ago, Congress cares more about doping pro-athletes than it does about veterans. We know this because, when it comes to cyclists, Congress will at least put them under oath during testimony. Not so with the Department of Veterans Affairs.

Instead, Congress allows them to shimmy around without a worry as to whether or not their false statements will land them in jail. Sadly, the rest of us would not have that luxury.

In response to this sham we call Congressional Oversight, I wanted to take a second to comment on the hearing. It was shocking.

I don’t care what anyone says about no longer being shocked at the garbage the VA will spew. It is even more shocking when they look like they are clearly lying. I refuse to get used to lying officials, and reserve such right to be shocked when my elected officials are lied to by the VA, even if they are seemingly asking for it by not swearing in the testifying official first.

Aside from these gripes, I wanted to make a point for highlighting the testimony of Anthony Hardie. While Coughlin’s testimony stole the headlines, Hardie’s testimony was on point and loaded with straight facts. At least someone got to the point quick enough to catch Congress’s attention. We will see if they do anything with the information.

That said, here are the clips of his testimony. Take a second to send this guy a note of support. He deserves it.

Hardie resides on the Facebook Group: Gulf War Veterans.

  1. “NON EXISTENT WMD’S” are you kidding me!! There WERE WMD destroyed over in the “BIG KITTY LITTER BOX”, allowed to drift over our troops with no protection. There are maps out there with the fall out indicated and units exposed.

  2. HIV-Negative AIDS: Is it CFS, GWS, or AIDS?

Allied NATO Government is hiding millions of infectious NON HIV AIDS cases (like mine) under the “Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS)” ICD-code.

    • Chapter 33 of Hillary Johnson’s: Osler’s Web: Inside the Labyrinth of the Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS) Epidemic is “HIV-NEGATIVE AIDS.”

    • Neenyah Ostrom’s book “America’s Biggest Cover-up: 50 More Things…CFS & Its Link To AIDS” cites: “Some CFS Patients May Be Non-HIV AIDS Cases.”

    • In 1992 “…Newsweek made an even more shocking announcement: that CFS researcher Dr. Paul Cheney had in his practice 20 CFS patients who had the same immune system deficiencies as the NON-HIV AIDS cases revealed at the Amsterdam conference.”

    • Dr. Judy Mikovits stated on the In Short Order Radio Interview (11/04/12): “You should consider Myalgic Encephalopathy (ME) as “NON HIV AIDS.”

    • The topic of NON HIV AIDS has been censored from mainstream media since 1992 (i.e., suspiciously enough, the same year that the *very mysterious* Gulf War Syndrome (GWS) started to present itself).

Will GWS, CFS or AIDS ever make any progress unless we acknowledge these horrific facts?

  5. Submitted the below letter for the record to the House Committee on Veterans Affairs for inclusion in their March 13th hearing: “Gulf War – What Kind of Care are Veterans Receiving 20 Years Later?”
    ———–

    March 1, 2013

Dear Chairman Miller and Distinguished Members of the House Committee on Veterans Affairs,

Today, almost twenty two years after the 1991 Persian Gulf War (PGW) more than 250,000 Veterans of that war continue to suffer from very debilitating medical symptoms related to their wartime service.

As a four-time “Consumer Reviewer” panelist on the “Congressionally Directed Medical Research Programs (CDMRP) for Gulf War Illness Research, the consensus among the scientific and medical communities now points to the likelihood that PGW Veterans sustained neurological damage to the part of the brain that regulates the autonomic nervous system. This seems a quite viable explanation given the myriad of symptoms that have destroyed the quality of life for so many PGW Veterans and their families.

Unfortunately, researchers who have valiantly searched for effective treatments for the myriad of symptoms associated with Gulf War Illnesses have been greatly handicapped by not knowing precisely what caused these illnesses.

Today there are many thousands of documents that remain classified concerning events that occurred before, during and after the PGW. Former Senator Donald Riegle’s 1994 report on Gulf War Illnesses made public a number of disturbing revelations concerning weapons technologies that were authorized for sale by the United States government to the Iraqis during the late 1980’s. The Senator’s report inferred that some of those same weapons technologies, chemical and biological weapons included, may have been the cause of Gulf War Illnesses. His report also recommended a Justice Department investigation into these questionable weapons sales to Iraq, which of course the Justice Department has never initiated.

Not surprisingly, compelling evidence to explain Gulf War Illnesses now points to confirmed widespread battlefield exposures to chemical warfare agents inadvertently caused by pre ground war American/allied aerial bombing of Iraqi ammo storage areas within the theater of operations (i.e., Sarin Gas) and/or certain non-FDA approved medications (i.e., Pyridostigmine Bromide pills that were administered to all ground forces despite the fact that at the time they were not yet FDA approved) and/or tainted vaccinations (i.e., excessive squalene utilized in the adjuvant) that were administered to our troops without their informed consent.

Also suspect as a possible cause of the debilitating illnesses was widespread ingestion of micro-particulates of post-impact Depleted Uranium (DU), a heavy weapons technology first used on a large scale during the 1991 PGW. Despite the fact that DU has been proven by DOD and others to create extremely long term environmental damage as well as posing considerable health risks to anyone exposed to it, DU is still in use in Americas arsenal today. Perhaps that might explain why today’s Warriors are coming home with symptoms eerily similar to Gulf War Illnesses?

There is little dispute now that Gulf War Illnesses are real, but for reasons that continue to confound the Veteran community, the majority of Persian Gulf War Veterans who have submitted claims for Veterans disability compensation have had their claims denied. This prevents the Veteran from receiving compensation that would help to offset their loss of earning capacity and enable them priority access to medical care provided by the VA.

The disenfranchisement of over 250,000 men and women who carried out one of the most effective military operations in our country’s history is a tragedy of the highest order. These are American heroes whose life-altering chronic medical problems have been largely ignored by their fellow countrymen for over twenty years, a human tragedy beyond anything I am aware of in our country’s history.

I am confident that sooner or later, the truth will be known. The question I have for you and for the members of your committee is, which side of history will you be on? Will you choose the side that the vast majority of our Colonels, Generals, and politicians who presided over that war have chosen? Like them, will you remain loyally silent – deafened to the cries of nearly 300,000 American heroes and their families, or will you be on the side of moral justice – the side that advocates for complete truth and transparency when it comes to once and for all declassifying and disclosing the reason(s) why so many of us fell ill after the war, no matter whose military or political legacies suffer, and no matter the embarrassment and potential civil liability that certain defense contractors may face?

I am very close to completing a book that describes what I believe to be the largest disenfranchisement of American military personnel in the history of this country. The working title of the book is “To Fight for Right and Freedom” (A Marine Corps “Mustang”s battle with Gulf War Illness, and the War Machine that created it). The book, now over 400 pages long does not paint a kind picture of those within our government and military establishment whom I believe to be complicit in this unconscionable act of betrayal against our troops.

And so in closing I would respectfully ask only one thing from each of you when it comes to making decisions about how best to deal with the issue of Gulf War Illnesses – and that is, BE HONEST and DO THE HONORABLE THING; do what you were elected to do – represent the interests of the American citizens; the citizen Warriors who put their lives on the line twenty two years ago, serving you, so that you could one day have the privilege of serving them. So serve them…please.

It’s been twenty two years and too many have died, too many have suffered, and far too many continue to have their disability claims denied by the Department of Veterans Affairs despite voluminous regulations that your honorable body created; laws that were supposed to give the benefit of the doubt (“presumption of service connection) to the symptomatic Persian Gulf War Veteran.

    History is watching.

    Very Respectfully,
    David K. Winnett, Jr.
Captain, United States Marine Corps (Retired)

  6. As a veteran that has also been an employee with a VA Medical Center, I am 100% convinced that the difference is the culture. While the DoD is ingrained with a sense of transparency we owe to the taxpayer, the VA has no element of accountability at any level of their culture.

  7. I know Veterans that legitimately have “Gulf War Syndrome” that were Admin. Support personnel in USAF that rec’vd the mandatory “Mobility Shot Injections” that **NEVER** set their feet in the big kitty litter box of desert called The Middle East, making it not so much being exposed to non-existent WMD’s, rather from the very experimental anti-nerve-agent injections to be suspicious of. It’s indeed the new Agent Orange that the VA and DOD are in complete denial of, even though there’s empirical evidence in abundance! The VA has acted as if it’s all imaginary, placing the burden of proof again on the Veterans, with Veterans afraid to ‘rock the boat’ in fear the VA may act passive-aggressively and take away, if any, current disability rating.
Perhaps Veterans need to push our Congress to demand that the VA be held under oath when testifying, as it seems if ANY change in the VA’s wile ways is going to take work collectively from we Veterans educating the citizens of what’s really going on.
