Veterans Benefits Webinar

Understanding Your Rights After the Minnesota Policy Win

Join VA-Accredited Attorney Benjamin Krause to Navigate Landmark Disclosure Enhancements and Protect Yourself from Benefits Fraud

When: April 24, 2026 at 12:00 pm US Central

Where: On Zoom.
(We will send this in your confirmation email.)

This free public webinar, hosted by Benjamin Krause — a disabled U.S. Air Force veteran, VA-accredited attorney, and recipient of the 2025 Minnesota Vetrepreneur of the Year award — will help veterans, families, advocates, and public officials understand important new consumer-protection updates in Minnesota.

For the first time in Minnesota, the state agency, the CVSO community, and the VA-accredited community worked together to improve how veterans are informed about their rights and the risks of unlawful or misleading assistance. As part of that effort, the Minnesota Department of Veterans Affairs (MDVA) updated its Veterans Benefits Disclosure form to address consumer-protection concerns that became more urgent in the post-PACT Act environment, including confusion about lawful representation, disclosure requirements, and claims assistance.

This session will explain why that update matters, including how meaningful reform was achieved even though proposed statutory changes did not pass, because MDVA was able to revise the disclosure notice under its existing authority.

You Will Learn:

Identifying Lawful Representation:
Understand who may lawfully assist you with VA claims and appeals, including the official role of VA-accredited attorneys and agents, so you can make informed decisions and avoid unauthorized help.

Clarifying Legal Fees:
Learn when fees are permitted under federal law, when they are not, and how to spot predatory companies charging unauthorized or unlawful fees.

Reporting Misconduct and Fraud:
Discover clearer reporting channels for veterans to flag misconduct, report suspected fraud, and help protect their benefits and others in the veteran community.
