President Biden’s Focus on Veterans Issues

President Joe Biden, anticipated to be the Democratic nominee, has already indicated that veterans issues will be a pivotal aspect of his campaign for re-election. On Veterans Day 2023, Biden’s campaign introduced a new advertisement emphasizing his administration’s efforts in assisting victims of toxic smoke from military burn pits in Iraq and Afghanistan. This move highlights the administration’s commitment to addressing long-standing veterans’ health concerns.

Joining Forces Campaign and Personal Military Connections

Additionally, the Joining Forces campaign, spearheaded by the Biden administration, has been actively engaging with military families, underscoring their importance in policy discussions. The personal connection of President Biden to the military, through his late son Beau’s service and the impact of his deployments on the Biden family, has been a recurring theme in his public addresses, both during the campaign trail and his presidency.

Criticism and Challenges in Military Policy

However, Biden’s handling of the U.S. troop withdrawal from Afghanistan in August 2021 has been a subject of criticism, particularly from congressional Republicans. This issue is likely to resurface as a significant military theme against Biden by the GOP candidate in the upcoming election.

GOP Candidates’ Military Stances and Controversies

The leading GOP contender, former President Donald Trump, has recently sparked controversy with his suggestion to deploy U.S. military forces for policing duties in major American cities, citing national emergency levels of crime. This proposal has raised concerns regarding its compatibility with military rules and traditions.

Both Trump and Florida Governor Ron DeSantis have proposed using U.S. troops in operations against drug and crime cartels in Mexico, irrespective of the Mexican government’s consent. DeSantis, a U.S. Navy veteran with overseas deployment experience in Iraq, is currently the only major candidate from either party with military experience. Another notable figure is former South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley, whose husband serves in the South Carolina Army National Guard and was deployed to Africa in 2023.

The prominence of military and veterans issues in the 2024 presidential race underscores the importance of these topics in American political discourse. As candidates from both parties prepare their campaigns, it will be interesting to observe how these issues shape their platforms and influence voter decisions.

  2. Ethical concerns??????? What? Where are the ethical concerns for the laws on the books that congress passed about LEGAL immigration? What could the ramifications be for the intentional self inflicted wound?? We know you know. How about following the law, period. No more no less. Emotions aren’t law they are ethical concerns? What? What ethically concerning about following the law? Either your dead from the neck up or one of them. We see YOU too!!

  3. Across many administrations it’s been bullshit and games and denial of care for a wide variety of conditions. Veterans with low income up shit creek if they depend on VA. Feel so sorry for anyone who has to go there. Blaming Donald or Joe is misguided because the ones who are really responsible for the bullshit at VA are locked in an office hiding from their eventual fate if they continue to fuck around.

  4. If all of America knew Joe Biden ignored Science documented by the 111th Congress 13 years ago that would ‘prevent’ Mass Shootings as well as Military and Veteran Suicides, he’d be impeached for treason before the election.

  5. Veterans served to Defend and Support the United States Constitution, against all enemies DOMESTIC or FOREIGN, THE LAW OF THE UNITED STATES
Biden et el the Democrats have systematically worked at destroying this basic law of America. No matter how one looks at this IT IS AN ACT OF TREASON against the UNITED STATES. Even in the military it is legal to disobey a illegal order. Biden has violated our LAWS, Our RIGHTS, and our NATIONAL SECURITY. the President is among other issues charged withe duty to secure our borders. In this aspect any person that holds a FEDERAL OFFICE takes a OATH to Defend and Support the United States Constitution, that includes
all members of Congress and Agencies, as such all should be on TRIAL for TREASON. We Veterans deserve
the enforcement of the LAW on all these cheats and liars and TRAITORS, we paid the price for the LAW enforce it! This behavior is not what America was and is, the deserve the America we fought, died and were maimed for.

    1. Treason is betraying the country for another nation. Basically being an agent for a foreign nation against the country that you hold citizenship.

  6. I’m certainly not knowledgeable enough to argue constitutionality of using troops that are border. But the fact exists.. we’re being invaded. By any definition of the word, one cannot, simply, understated , otherwise.
I do not need to describe the fact that it’s more than just people seeking a better life. Rather, it’s military age males crossing the border, let alone deadly fentanyl is causing catastrophic record deaths in US cities.
Only two examples did I give that would justify some manner of military self-defense to our nation.
Invasion is exactly what is occurring.
Veteran here. And I can’t help but wonder if part of the VA budget starts to extend to providing benefit to the invaders.

    1. Giving aid and comfort to the enemy:
“Whoever, owing allegiance to the United States, levies war against them or adheres to their enemies, giving them aid and comfort within the United States or elsewhere, is guilty of treason and shall suffer death, or shall be imprisoned not less than five years and fined under this title but not less than $10,000; and shall be incapable of holding any office under the United States.”
How about aid and comfort to China? China who has on multiple occasions declared WAR on the USA
Going against the US Constitution is giving aid and comfort to the enemy e.g the President is charged with SECURING OUR BORDERS
