1. It actually means WHAT kind of Christian are you? Cruz comes from something other than real christians. Some whacko religion determined to undermine REAL religions & our constitution and so far doing a damn fine job of it. He’s Very Very dangerous & now he doesn’t think SCOTUS decisions are to be acknowledged which puts everything in this country on its head. EVERYTHING. I don’t like all of their decisions with BUT it’s part of our constitution. THAT’S WHY AS VOTERS WE NEED TO KNOW WHO WERE VOTING FOR & HOLD their FEET TO THE FIRE.
   Remember, as my murdered brotherinlaw, Julian B. Jeff Miller, Chairman of The House Veterans Affairs Committee this week that says it all in one sentence regarding the still on-going resistance of the VA to actually allow more Veteran’s access to the “Veteran’s Choice Card Program”, even though Congress ordered them to stop using 40 mile “as a crow flies” calculations to deny use of the program. The VA actually uses TWO DIFFERENT “Contractors” that use VA supplied info/database to administer program. With the VA outsourcing SO MUCH of the work THEY are supposed to do, is it any wonder to my fellow Veterans WHY the VA cannot DIRECTLY ADMINISTER “The Choice Program” solely without a few “middle-men war-profiteers/contractors”? Just how much are TWO OUTSIDE COMPANIES cashing-in on a job that seems the VA should be directly administering?

3. went to get help with my mental health at gainesville, florida v.a.m.c. attacked by police dragged down hand cuffed locked in a cell and charged. may 13 i will be sentenced in federal court, bench trial. thought i was doing everything right?. RUN FROM THE V.A. there mental health is a total farce, unless you take the drugs they push for big farm. god dame the pusher man!!!!

4. I went to the new Colorado springs clinic for a brain scan, the location they put it is great what a view. I told this to the employees at the x-ray lab and one told me yea we have to speak to the union and have them put in a window, as a joke. I then told them it will be nice if they could finish the Denver VA and I was advised by one employee, you know they want to take away our Bonus so they can pay for it, “can you believe that he said. I can and hope they do so. McDonald still has not answered my inquiry about the way the VA is using the Disruptive to punish veterans anyway they like, even if the veteran did nothing wrong and they know it and can not and refuse to provide any proof to anyone and McDonald is letting them get away with it. Dirty Dirty SHAME.

MAKE sure the acc’t firm isn’t KPMG or any others caught in funneling & stealing money from everywhere..Nurses & doctors at kaiser get bonuses too, to cut corners to not in delivering “medical care”. Abuse galore the same for patients & diligent employees. AS for our vets. Report any problems & VOILA., YOUR A TARGET. BEEN THERE, DONE THAT.
   Kaiser has kpmg too for acc’ting firm. Kaiser/kmpg for the DOD knows where the money goes, TO make & pay for more wars, crippling & offing as many as they can. “Medical.health” care is a business giving us the business.
   We have claim adjusters & SSA employees, working together(congress staff too) stealing, lying while making people wait for benefits that they won’t get or just a little of..
   How many years does it take to get things done right?. Since I can remember, it’s going on & on & on in intentional incompetence.
   Just how much in bonuses or promotions do these incompetent(INSTRUCTED incompetence) get? Then the DOD/VA can ask for and get more tax.dollars without any accountability..
   As my hubby stated, that the ones who cut corners, get moved UP or lateral but never OUT. He was a federal civilian employee.who too suffered injuries & loss of promotions/wages for actually doing his job. The SSA aides & abets in hiding injuries/illnesses too, ALL FOR THE EMPLOYER. & or but the employers don’t suffer cuts.
   The more one cuts corners, the more money & promos they get.. I want these federal employees to take a psyche test, an MMPI & show they’re sociopaths & and IQ test cause morons have low IQ’s but, THAT THEY’LL DO ANYTHING to keep their job, ANYTHING. This goes for legislators too!….

7. I think they should also look at Vocational-Rehabilitation and Employment offices. I am a 100% service connected veteran with various heath issues including PTSD and TBI and yesterday, April 30th, I was denied chapter 31 to help me with my education. I told the counselor that he could help me with getting my tuition and fees paid for plus help me and my wife by getting our entitlement that includes a monthly stipend.

   The counselor wanted me to get a letter from my doctor stating that I was ready to go back to work and then he would help me. My wife told the counselor that my doctor was not going to do that. I am taking 15 different medications and this vocational-rehabilitation office denied me because they want me to go back to work. Again, I can’t do that because of my medical condition. Plus, I just received a letter stating that I had previously rehabilitated under the Independent Living and that I was found infeasible for employment. What they want is a medical letter saying that I am feasible and I am not going to do that plus I know my doctors would not do that.

   I told the counselor there is no way I can go back to work right now. I told him I am 56 and my health conditions are not good enough for me to go back to work. I also told him, how about a letter that states that It is alright for me to take classes because it helps me with my PTSD and TBI and because I hope to be able to go back to work when I am age 62 with a PHD in Education (my health permitting) so that I can prepare our military for what they will be facing down range and to prepare them for the various medical treatments they will be given when they get back from harms way so that it helps with their rehabilitation.

   I am on my 5th course at Capella University and I am having to pay out of my own pocket. My classes are online classes. I have my own study room at home and I don’t have to go onsite for classes. I am not ready for that.

   During my conversation with the Voc-Rehab counselor I became a little upset but I had my caregiver with me to help me. I asked the counselor if he new Benjamin Krause and he said yes that he was one of those that was bad mouthing the VA. I told him in a high voice “No he is not, he is a veteran who is helping out veterans and not someone like you who is acting like a gatekeeper and keeping all of the entitlements away from our veterans.”

   The Voc-Rehab counselor then responded to me that he is a veteran also and that the was the best counselor there at that office (El Paso, Tx). I responded immediately that I was glad that I was talking to the best. He then pointed out a trophy on his filing cabinet stating that he had received that award and again I responded immediately by asking him “…what was that your bonus?” He denied getting bonuses.

   I have to say that I left that office with my head hanging down and feeling like a loser. I felt down and depressed. I have been thinking about crazy things like a failure and not wanting to live anymore. I have also been thinking about quitting my pursuit for education. I don’t know what else to do. The cost of education is not cheap. The classes have helped me with my TBI and with my PTSD.

   Anyhow, I hope that my post helps other veterans with their situation. Thanks for reading and God Bless.

9. In 2005, George Bush removed the regulations between real estate, banking & healthcare( all insurance/benefits). After, the Patriot ACT post 9/11. SO, when you applied for anything, loan, credit card, health care since, they all got into each others business, our business. EVERYTHING is known about us and one of the reason WHY there was a mortgage ripoff among so many other ripoffs,. SO, can we all call the NSA & IRS for all of our records???. AND THEN Maybe the legislators can view all of their BS, THAT they passed onto us. EVERY piece of legislation that is passed is not for us but to gerry rig it all., to take it all and so far it’s working and. its certainly the way to prevent us from getting anything. period, & we pay for it all in many ugly way like denying you your benefits . Trying to get the GAO to do it’s job is yet another obstacle course.As a matter of fact. trying to get anything out of any agency or legislator is all an obstacle course…DELIBERATELY done.
   I ran for congress twice and make no mistake about this, is that I would be one of the last people that the D.C. would want me fulfilling the Constitution of the U.S. FOR THE PEOPLE, WE THE PEOPLE. They all take an oath. to protect the U.S.Constitution right after filling out the the paperwork to run for office.
   So when the government doesn’t work, it is because the legislators wrote it up that way, all of it. NO ONE IS ABOVE THE LAW & the American people, including our vets, we all need to hold them accountable AND responsible for their gerry rigging to steal & harm. There should be a constitutional law to hold them accountable…

This situation is clearly retaliation for Tomas getting in trouble for changing my time to AWOL to get me fired and allowing another employee to contiune to harass me.        I fully read your ‘GoFundMe’ page and your story and so sorry you have had to go through such Sexual Discrimination and HARRASSMENT!

       Although I am no attorney, a fellow Veteran, may I suggest you go further UP the CHIAN OF COMMAND and skip the **worthless Sloane Gibson** and contact VA Under Secretary Allison Hickey (sp?) AND VA Sec. McDonald with what you have going on. I would also consider contacting the ACLU because it sounds like something they would be all over it. However, since you did not achieve satisfactory results from Sloane Gibson, (which is really odd it went to him in first place anyway), go up the NEXT Chain of Command to Hickey and McDonald.

       Ben has listed BOTH their CELL PHONE #’s on this site as well as personal email addresses. CALL THEM! Send an email to Ben on this site to ask for their contact info that both Hickey and McDonald indeed encouraged Veterans to contact them and perhaps someone will further post on here their contact info to save Ben’s time, as am sure he gets a ton of emails daily to sort through.

       THAT VAMC you worked at sounds like it has an environment entrenched with “good ol’ boys” that have created a hostile work environment and being retaliated at for being a whistle blower is so not right.

       Please keep us updated with what’s going on. I want to ask, due to the botched eye surgery they performed on you (more like experiment/training surgery), did you loose use of that eye or worse vision than before? Was it corrected by the VA? I know nothing about your VA Employee Union but surely you have legal representation options through them? If they are also part of the problem, then I think my aforementioned advice of whom to contact seems course of action and direction to go.

       1. I forgot to add: Since you are in Florida, Rep. Jeff Miller of Florida, is the big guy that’s chairman of the House Veterans Affairs Committee. I certainly would let his office know what’s going on as well, as it certainly could not hurt. He probably would have been a much better option than contacting Marc Rubio, whom in all honesty, seems to be too self-absorbed and focused only on his Presidential Run rather than his constituents because Florida still has PILL MILLS and not much has been done about it from his office, so would think a VA employee that’s a Veteran as well, probably is even lower on his radar.

          Sloane Gibson is actually “known as Pres. Obama’s *cleaner*”, which means sweeping vocal problems under the rug rather than ever really addressing them. The Phoenix VA Scandal is a prime example…not much done there even though the VA has received requested BILLIONS to clean-up and address VA Wait Time for Veterans but when you read this link, you will see Rep. 12. Ben, I have not read the linked article yet, but do you know who requested this GAO investigation and why? Perhaps it’s a requirement of other legislation and oversight, but unless the House or Senate VA committees actually read the GAO reports and follow up, it’s nothing more than a paperwork exercise.
    Years ago, after obtaining a large number of documents on Depleted Uranium exposure and health effects, I publicly asked a Senator in a meeting whether he would request a GAO investigation into the lies and misinformation the DOD was putting out regarding exposure to DU in the Gulf War. The stack of reports I had was about 8 inches high. The report full of lies the DOD put out at the time was about 30 pages. Since the question was asked publicly, the Senator had no choice and requested the GAO investigate. During the investigation, I met with 2 GAO staffers on Washington and turned over a huge number of documents I had gotten on DU I had gotten from the Nuclear Regulatory Commission. Eventually the GAO completed their report, and concluded previous DOD tests on exposures to DU were sloppy at best, and it was recommended those tests be done again using more realistic criteria. They also found DOD training on DU exposure was pathetic, and recommended the DOD produce training on not only avoiding exposure, but medical training on how to treat it.
    The bad part of this is the GAO report was not requested by the House or Senate committee on Vets Affairs, so there was no follow-up to see how much correction the DOD actually did. I do know they implemented better training…for a few years. Without continuing oversight on whether the VA is implementing any recommendations on this report, it too will be ignored.

       1. Thanks Berts. Having a hearing on the report is nice, but it will need follow-up to insure the recommendations are enacted. GAO reports and IG reports all contain recommendations, along with an agency response. Unfortunately, those same problems show up in the same reports with the same responses year after year.

13. Shut down the whole thing and add veterans to existing TriCare roles. As far as the poor, poor VA employees, if they were worth a damn they would not be hiding behind VA shield laws making a fraction of what there non-GS peers make.

14. Who do you report problems with the VA to? The VA where I go wants to cease giving me a medication that is anti seizure but also controls pain in the dosages I have been taking for 10 years which were approved by a committee of Doctors 10 years ago. They have a new pain management doctor who wants to experiment on me with all the new pain relief drugs and I am 66 years old and in poor health. The doctor wants to examine me he can not read my MRI or CTS I guess or the other Doctors notes and I am in pain. I do not want to have to make another trip to see another Doctor at the VA when I am in such pain. I just want to be left alone.

    1. Send the VA OIG an email at their Hotline email addy ,[email protected] , telling them what you told us and that you feel this is a Patient Safety Issue.

       If they feel you do have a Patient Safety Issue they will help.

       They helped a vet I referred to them as he needed anti seizure meds and VA was giving him a run a round.

       He got his meds within 24 hours after contacting the IG.

15. This has got to be the, “Duh, ya think?” article of the year! How many more investigations, reports and veterans dying will it take before something is done?

    The VA is a breeding ground for incompetence and cover-ups. Recently, the VA signed a contract with companies to manage the community care of veterans. They spent 17 Million dollars. If they had just let the veterans go to a doctor and agree to pay the Medicare rate, it would have cost $13,000,000 less – and that was for only the first year of the program!

    Outside contractors are, in many cases, tied to VA insiders. We see case after case of fraud and waste in these projects. In the past year alone, there have been several arrests for illegal activity in the procurement process. And, if they caught these people, you better believe there are a lot more who haven’t been caught.

    The Acting VAOIG just sweeps things under the rug. Note, I said acting. We have not had a VAOIG that has been appointed during the entire term of this administration. Why?

    The peer review process is a joke with everyone playing cover your ass. Because, if I cover your ass today, you can cover mine tomorrow. Patient Advocates are the biggest joke in the VA. You cannot serve two masters, and these people know it’s not the veteran who signs their paycheck.

    The VAOIG investigations into whistle blower complaints are rarely “substantiated.” It makes me wonder how so many employees must be “delusional” for making serious issues up out of thin air? If they have delusions, how were hired and how did they stay employed?

    The VA reminds me of a phrase which begins with, cluster . . . . . .

    1. I should have never reported to the VA OIG. I worked in Prosthetics/Orthotics at the Miami, Fl VAMC and was repeated asked for sexual acts by a coworker who wouldnt stop(not a Veteran/employee, just an employee) The supervisor tried to get me fired in order to protect the guy because they were “friendly”. I was even warned that he would have me killed and a VA Detective had to take a report. 2 weeks later I was put on admin leave.

    Meanwhile….just last night on David Letterman, First Lady Michelle Obama was a guest and she spoke of the VA “being cleaned-up”, and in same few sentences she said, “We just need to make sure we GIVE MORE FUNDING FOR VA”!!!!!!!!!!!

    See, that’s just part of the whole mess that’s the VA. They CANNOT properly manage all the BILLIONS they are appropriated and then when a program like “Choice Program”, the VA goes out of their way to make it appear we Veterans just LOVE the VA, so then they make it near impossible to even use a fully funded program…but ask Congress for even MORE Billions when caught restricting access, giving reason, “well, this program will now cost EVEN MORE”, which makes no sense when the VA stated hardly anyone was even utilizing it.

    I really think the VA should be AUDITED EACH YEAR by an independent accounting firm with absolutely no ties to the VA to follow the money trail. Otherwise, the VA has no accountability whatsoever and they are very good at squandering tax payer monies. Just look at the couple times different contracts were awarded to transform paper records to electronic, and EVERY bundle of BILLIONS scattered and lost, with EACH said contract for this task a HUGE FAIL.
    Would not ‘normal contracts’ not pay any contractor if they do not or can not finish the contracted task?
    Follow the money. Some people are making out like bandits with funds that are to help Veterans, NOT further pad the VA’s pockets.
