Bombs Away In Syria, But Is Veterans Affairs Ready To Serve New Disabled Veterans Of World War 3?

Now that Trump chose to bomb Syria, one of the next issues should be ensuring the Department of Veterans Affairs is equipped to handle the workload of new disabled veterans from World War 3.

Of course, we know the answer is a loud “No.”

VA is nowhere near ready for a new war much less a war with Russia, Syria and Iran, but since when have US presidents worried about ensuring services were ready for returning troops and newly minted disabled veterans.

I remember the run-up to the Iraq War, where Vice President Dick Cheney and the press (NY Times and practically everyone else) yelled about “yellow cake” and promised the war would be quick and cost less than $100 billion. Meanwhile, 17 years later, we now know the cost of caring for veterans alone will cost $1.3 trillion, and the war is projected at $4 trillion.

Neo-Cons have long sharpened their swords at the thought of sending a new round of young American soldiers into harms way in Syria while still failing to resolve other existing wars in Iraq, Afghanistan and elsewhere.

Anyone take a care to guess how much these additional wars might cost?

“A short time ago, I ordered the United States armed forces to launch precision strikes on targets associated with the chemical weapons capabilities of Syrian dictator Bashar al-Assad,” Trump said in a primetime televised speech to the nation.

“A combined operation with the armed forces of France and the United Kingdom is now underway. We thank them both. This massacre was a significant escalation in a pattern of chemical weapons use by that very terrible regime.”

US officials are supposedly directing their jets to strike chemical production facilities while other officials say a variety of targets were chosen for the show of aggression against Syria.

Trump said he warned Russia and Iran to abandon their ally while the US, France and Britain have their way with the country.

Of course, our fixation with that part of the world is nothing new. It seems probable that the oil contracts have already been drafted to justify pipe building in that country to expand production and markets to benefit Wall Street and Big Oil.

Anyone notice gas prices start to climb right as Bolton was picked as the new Secretary of State?

We are now seeing the Neo-Con plan roll out in full swing as Trump also moves to include the US back into the Trans-Pacific Partnership. What a sell-out.

Remember the supposed yellow cake Saddam Husain did not have that NY Times and everyone else said he did have prior to the run-up to the Iraq War? It is all a joke that will be paid for on the backs of low and middle-class grandchildren. Surely, the 1 percent won’t pay a dime for this new war, but their military industrial complex sure will profit.

Anyway, if Trump really wanted to fix VA he could. Now that we are going into a new war, maybe its time to also demand full funding of VA before the DOD is allowed to replenish its bombs.

We cannot keep policing the world while our own country and those who do the policing suffer after the patriotic sentiment is gone.

  1. I still can’t decide if Trump really wanted to make change and the DC, career politicians (Dems, Republicans) made it clear to Trump that he better get in line with the “game” or be destroyed.

I mean, look at the timing of Trump back peddling and the heat being turned up on Cohen. Was the next move to start investigating each Trump son, daughter, wife, et.c until they can put them all in jail on “something” or they give up something to put Trump behind bars on something totally unrelated to an investigation into Russia interference with Hillary becoming president?

    Or,

Is/was Trump just another “distraction” to keep us divided and preoccupied with scandal (remember Monica Lewinsky?) while the government robs us blind?

I mean, when I heard about the Syria chemical attack, I felt this was just like the Post Office (which is a financial drain on our taxpayes….when cutting out Saturday deliveries was proposed (cuz with online bill pay, magazines, etc. who uses the mail besides to get junk mail?) OMG, here comes the union and post office fighting back and now instead of removing Saturday delivery, Sunday delivery is ADDED and still the Post Office is hemorrhaging.

Same issue…Trump wants to pull out of Syria and someone tells Asad to make some drama. Anyone ever consider Asad doesn’t want us to back out either? I know, doesn’t make sense? Yes it does…cuz all the money that’ll get spent into “rebuilding Syria will not just be consumed by greedy contractors charging us $100 for a pen (and whom either have shares/campaign contributions related to some politician and/or relative of a politician) the money will go to Asad cronies who will put the money into a brief case and disappear….

Each country we get involved with becomes a profit to rebuild…follow the money.

And of course, nothing in the budget for the human casualties of these conflicts – our own service members….worse, the VA will fight you with every breath until you die and go away, but $100 pen from Contractor X…”Approved” without blinking an eye…

  2. PEOPLE ARE MUCH MORE FAMILIAR WITH THE RHETORIC AROUND THE WAY WE TREATED VETERANS RATHER THAN THE DECISION THAT WE ACTUALLY ME FOR THEM . ITS A HUGE PROBLEM IN OUR HISTORY THAT IS WHY OUR WARS ARE REPEATING .

WE NEED TO GUIDE OURSELVES AWAY FROM THE VETERAN AFFAIRS FORM OUR OWN MILITIA BECAUSE WE WHERE THE MILITIA AND STILL CAN BE CALLED THE MILITIA , NEED TO GROUP UP START ARMING OURSELVES AND START TAKING OVER MAJOR CITIES AND PLANTING OPERATIVE GOALS TO ELIMINATE THE DOUBLE STANDARDS THE GOVERNMENT PROVIDED US WITH . TIME TO STOP PROTESTING US AND ARM OURSELVES LET THE MAINSTREAM KNOW THERE ASKING FOR A CIVIL WAR….

ONE BIG FUCKING SHOT OF AN ILLUSION

    1. FACE BOOK IS HACKED BY THE SPECIAL INVESTIGATION TEAM BLAMES IT ON FACE BOOK BOSS THEN AS A DOUBLE STANDARDS WE NOW ARE BOMBING A COUNTRY UNDER A POLICE ACTION THE AMERICAN GOVERNMENT IS TYRANNICAL ABOUT .OUR GOVERNMENT IS LOSING CONTROL OF OUR CONSTITUTION WE NEED TO OPRESS SUPRESS OR UNDERSTAND WE CANT WAIT ANYMORE AND ITS TIME TO TAKE OUT OR GIVE BACK WHICH IS RIGHTFULLY OURS .WE NEED TO ORGANIZE VETERAN TEAMS TO DISMANTLE THE VETERAN AFFAIRS . PEOPLE AWAITING APPEALS AT THIS POINT ARE DONE NOW BECAUSE OF THIS WAR , ITS TIME TO STOP WAITING START FIGHTING AGAIN.

  3. why talk about our problems we just keep getting the run around by a government that does not care for there veterans the actions they take against there veterans . can we just group up and arms and take out target corrupted actiivity in the veterans . veterans have there own mafia why cant we have ours.

  11. In answer to Ben’s question if the VA is prepared for a new batch of loyal saps, the answer is? Fuckin eh, they’re ready. Sheeeeeit. Donny Skidmark said so last night when he blessed our our brave dedicated American patriot men and women serving our great nation … oops – I just puked a little ….. dedicated to the preservation of freedom, liberty and democracy around the globe….

The rest of those great folks in Washington have their own extensive list of platitudes and accolades, and admirations, and DO NOT forget the ubiquitous prayers for their safety….. Gets me all flag wavy n’shit. But fear not, if it gets into a shooting war, I’m sure we’ll have plenty of America’s own Christian Taliban ready, willing and able to serve their God and Cuntry.

Hey – wait a sec – we haven’t heard a word about veterans. Damn. Well, I guess we know who the audience is. Those loyal veterans will never raise their voices during a time of WAR.

And speaking of religious wars. Have you ever wondered about the hows and whys of the similarities of the Muslim burka and hijab get-ups and the Catholic nun old school habits. Big old heavy cape/gown/robe/blanket thingies with a heavy duty head covering. Only difference is the Catholics spun their head-gear around backwards.

I can only imagine the decision making process who knows how many centuries ago. A bunch of priests sitting around after the latest religious war discussing how the Persians or Assyrians had all their women wearing this heavy duty shit, maybe thinking it was like armor or something. Then, one of the kiddie schtuppers had the great idea – “Hey – we could get our nuns to do the same thing”, and another puffter says, “ya, but it should be different, and another pedopopper suggests they flip the headgear around and sew up the flap. Hell ya.

When you think about it, the Catholics and Muslims have a lot in common. The breed like bunnies, demand impoverished obedience, and schtup their young’uns.

(Disclosure – Married the farmer’s daughter – she’s one of 13 – German Catholic, I acquiesced to raising our boys Catholic at St. Patricks in Hudson, WI – home of the murdering pedophile priest Father Ryan…. I earned my cynicism bitches)

    Thus endeth today’s homily.

    Almost:

I’m off to kill a commie
    So send me a salami
    And try to smile somehow.

I’ll sing to you when the war is over,
An hour and a half from nooooooow.

  12. I’ll check back in a couple of weeks to issue an apology if Russia declares war on the United States. I’ve usually found Ben to be pretty balanced in his politics, but the concern that this is the beginning of WWIII is hyperbolic, panicked rhetoric. We bombed Syria a year ago, and Russia and Iran rattled sabers a little — and that was all. We’ve maintained troops in Syria as well, and neither Russia, Iran, nor Assad has deemed them an invading force. I’m disappointed. I’ve come to expect a little more than knee-jerk, “the sky is falling” talking points from Ben Krause.

I’m definitely not in favor of another war, but I’m not okay with the use of chemical weapons on civilians, either. This is a tough call, and it was just a little more than a week ago when President Trump was discussing pulling the remaining “boots on the ground” out of Syria. Should we become isolationist and just leave the Middle East to the Russians, Iranians and ISIS? If not, then we’re going to do something besides telling them that we have drawn a “red line” that we are not prepared to enforce. The prior administration tried that, and Assad and Putin called Obama’s bluff.

Now, as to Ben’s assertion that the VA is not prepared to care for veterans of another war, I couldn’t agree more. It’s not taking care of us now. I also agree with his statement that Trump knows how to fix the VA. Everyone familiar with the agency and an IQ greater than that of an eggplant also knows.

    1. Actually, I find Ben on point. Given that (historically speaking) the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor was about 90 years in the making prior to its commencement – – – Ben’s assertions do not seem to be hyperbolic, panicked rhetoric.

Like I pointed out above, I do not trust who says who is to blame for this chemical attack. Personally I think since Syria hasn’t been in the news, because of all the Russian collusion going on, (Just kidding), that these asswipe rebels needed a way to draw the U.S. further into this B.S. Who stands to gain the most from this attack on children, and other civilians, Assad, or the rebels?

Where is the world outcry for the number of woman, children and others, who have been raped 10 times a day before noon, beheaded, tortured and murdered? Oh, yes, that’s right, never mind, those are nothing but Christians…..move along, nothing to see here folks….

        Too much B.S. ………WAY TOO MUCH B.S.

    1. 22 a day for 17 years 136,510, about 20,000 in a division, the VA will have completely wiped out about 6.8 divisions, possibly two army groups, yep they’ll have room. I have an idea let’s setup some VA’s over in Syria and Iraq, problem solved, in a couple of years everybody of there will be dead. But that might constitute a war crime, considering a VA is like an extermination camp.

  13. Keep your damn VA benefits. I’d fight for nothing to keep those innocent children from suffering such a horrible death at the hands of monsters. Children always suffer the most, like in viet-nam. I’ve survived so far w/o any real healthcare from VA.

Been lied to way too many times, who benefits most from this attack? I think there are plenty of monsters to go around.

    2. Totally agree with you Junior. We definitely need to stop funding ISIS and get out of Syria.

Ohhhhhhh it’s a humanitarian mission, you say…………….let’s explore that then, how many were killed? google it an post your answer, is it anywhere near the number of Veterans who die each year due to VA negligence? No, no it is not anywhere near the amount of Veterans who died each year. So, it’s a worldwide outcry for action over rebels using gas to kill civilians, but on the genocide of Veterans, Crickets…..
    Very interesting indeed.

Go fuck yourself DC, NWO, and the lying NWO owned MSM. you want to perform a humanitarian mission? then bring our soldiers home, and take the fuck care of them all, the price tag would be so much less, then attacking another country we have no business being in, in the first place………..Nothing but fucking liars everyone of them, I am sick of the damn lies and manipulation from these assholes in DC. 1. That sounds very Nostradamus, Dennis. However, if read in Latin backwards, the swill fits the bill for the religiously insane.

    2. Shakespeare. Julius Caesar. Act 3, Scene 1:

“Domestic fury and fierce civil strife
Shall cumber all the parts of Syria.
Blood and destruction shall be so in use,
      And dreadful objects so familiar,
That mothers shall but smile when they behold
Their infants quartered with the hands of war,
All pity choked with custom of fell deeds,
And Caesar’s spirit, ranging for revenge,
With Ate by his side come hot from hell,
Shall in these confines with a monarch’s voice
Cry “Havoc!” and let slip the dogs of war,
That this foul deed shall smell above the earth
With carrion men, groaning for burial.”

In our “modern” times, we use “modern” English and geography – – – so:

“Fierce civil war will paralyze all of Syria. Blood and destruction will be so common and familiar that mothers will merely smile when their infants are cut to pieces by the hands of war. People’s capacity for sympathy will grow tired and weak from the sheer quantity of cruel deeds. And Vladimir Putin, searching for discord and revenge with Stalin’s Ghost by his side, just up from Hell, will cry in the voice of a king, “Havoc!” and unleash the dogs of war upon the United States. This foul deed will stink up to the sky with men’s corpses, which will beg to be buried rather than sent home for the VA to treat for the remainder of their lives . . .”

  16. On a lighter note, during the month of May, VA is sponsoring baby showers for current service members and VA clients that are expecting.
    Get em’ while they’re young!!!

    FUCK VA
    FUCK AFGE

    1. @Warhorse- The VA will somehow get ‘baby showers’ gravely wrong. Brings to mind an old TV sitcom I loved called ‘WKRP in Cincinnati”, where on Thanksgiving, they thought it was a great promotional idea to airdrop huge amounts of turkeys from their weather helicopter, not realizing turkeys are only good a very short span flight, not from atop a building, let along a weather/traffic helicopter…many casualties in Cincy that Thanksgiving…and I see a potential correlation to the VA “sponsoring” baby showers…

Makes me want to put on some Alice Cooper this morning….

  18. It has often been asked on these pages, how do/does ___ (fill in) gather so many, so quickly, to march…? The easy answer is that the group has a grasp on the issue at hand.

Politics in itself, is not taught in our basic education system. It would be the rare American Government teacher that touches on political theory during that required course.

The average voter does not realize that all of this military spending has NOTHING to do with veterans situations. Speaker Ryan unintentionally brought this point sliding into home plate, during his interview on Thursday. To save your time, this is the one paragraph out of all of the fluff that I am referring to: “We have not yet won that debate. It’s gotta be more bipartisan. And– and I regret that it isn’t. But that’s you prevent a debt crisis. And I’m also very, very– and I’ve learned to spend a lot of time with the military since being speaker. We needed to rebuild our military. We were– people were dying in training accidents, 80 last year alone. And I’m very proud of the fact that we have rebuilt our military, our Veterans Administration, and this economy is growing. So I’m– I’m– I’m just pleased with that body of work.”. The transcript link: “https://www.cbsnews.com/news/paul-ryan-trump-stepping-down-cbs-interview-full-transcript-today-2018-04-12/”.

We know, that there has been diddly-squat done to improve long standing important basic veteran’s issues, and gizillions have been spent spoofing the public’s perception. This is no accidental oversight. Uncle employ’s many at outrageous salary’s to keep all of her voting citizens as mushrooms; Ya know feed ’em crap and keep ’em in the dark!

I think it behooves all of us to enlighten every voter of all age groups, in some gentle way, when the opportunity presents itself in daily conversations. That might be more beneficial for our cause, than putting efforts into gathering a bunch of broken bodies/hearts to march on D.C. at this point.

A couple of constructive suggestions for mass messaging are the old fashioned standby things like well written opinion pieces in the paper, or social media if that is your preference, and “man on the street” type of local tv news plugs. I’ll bet Stephen Colbert could find a way to present the difference between military spending and political spins that are CONFUSING Joe and Jane Citizen into believing that chunks of their hard earned money goes toward helping veterans.

I believe that everyone has a right to believe in their own fairytale, but not at the expense of others; therefore, I profess that my Mickey Mouse can kick your Goofy’s ass any day of the week and twice on Sunday. See! No one was hurt and everyone continues to believe in their God given beliefs; whatever they may be. Someone once said “kill them all and let God sort them out”. 21. In January of 1991, I was the Combat Information Center Watch Supervisor aboard USS Leftwich (DD 984) when we fired our BGM-109’s against targets in Iraq. Happy Trails. When we came home, the VA was not ready for us.

In 2001, I was running with the Veterans for Common Sense crowd, and was a signatory along with Kris Kristofferson, several former Flag Officers, and over one-thousand veterans from Operations Desert Shield/Desert Storm of a letter to President Bush that detailed why the invasion of Iraq would be the wrong war at the wrong time for the wrong reasons.

As always, our political leadership never listens to those who have been there – – – and might actually have some real-world knowledge and experience, rather than a fancy certificate on the wall and cockamamie theories on the glories of war.

The scariest thing I heard remarked prior to “Gulf War Redux” came from a VA doctor named Roger Wong who personally remarked to me that “the VA is a whole lot better prepared now than we were in 1991”.

When our veterans returned, we all saw and experienced how prepared the VA was. The preparation level of the VA could have best been described as a clusterfuck.

It remains to be seen whether we will become embroiled in Syria on a larger scale for a sustained amount of time. I would not bet against it.

Some things never change. You may expect the VA to be as prepared for the return of the troops from Syria – – – as they were from Vietnam, Gulf War’s I and II.

Not at all. The VA will continue in perpetuity the practice of “Delay, Deny, Let our veterans Die . . .”

He said veterans would no longer fall through the cracks, didn’t he?
And, by God, he made it so.
Now, we’re hydraulically squirted through them.

    1. I have contacted the new agency that Trump set up. Here is what happens. Contacted by someone in California. The person stated send everything to Washington .

They will but it into an e-mail to the person in California.

I asked the person in California, I have over 150 page’s of proof. Will the e-mail contain all the evidence I sent to Washington ? No ! They will pick it apart. Wait a minute, how can you work on a complaint if you do not have all the evidence.

Back and forth. Told rh would refer it to visn 19 to reply.

These are the very people doing the harm.

They really do not know what they are doing.

Have to have people who know what they are doing.

      1. “They really do not know what they are doing.”
Actually, they really *do* know what they are doing: They are adding another official denial to our complaints, and making it that much harder for us to get anyone to understand that their latest denial rests on a foundation of bogus denials.
