Hillary Clinton Rachel Maddow

Now, Hillary Clinton Finally Promises Veterans Affairs Reforms

Hillary Clinton Rachel MaddowAfter getting bashed in veteran circles and by Donald Trump for her juvenile approach to recent veteran scandals last October, Clinton now promises reforms.

When asked about VA problems during a Rachel Maddow interview last October, Clinton grunted merely that the present scandals were merely a Republican swipe at Democrats. I wish she would have said that to the families of veterans killed by the wait list scandal.

RELATED: Isn’t Clinton Behind Present VA Dysfunction?

HILLARY CLINTON VA REFORMS

The Military Times just reported on her speech to pathetic VFW, a dying organization, where she did a 180-degree turn and now promises reforms. Though, she caveats her reforms as not being as extreme as Trump’s, likely in a calculated attempt to pander to union voters.

During he speech, she engaged in typical fear mongering, claiming Republicans want to fully privatize VA. This argument is a well known red herring since VA is already quite privatized under Obama through initiatives set in motion first by former President Clinton.

The told the VFW crowd, “I know a lot of vets still feel invisible, powerless, like their country [has] forgotten them.” She continued, “That’s wrong. We have to make sure we end that.”

So how would another Clinton presidency change that? Didn’t she previously discount whistleblower claims about veterans being killed in VA only to blame Republicans?

Now, of the past 21 years, a Democrat has been in office for 2/3 of them. Clinton promises a different VA experience, but she played a large part in created the present VA system during her roll as chair of the Health Care committee in 1993. She also participated in gutting VA union jobs in favor of outsourcing, so it is interesting Clinton is wielding any support form the union at this point.

Anyway, all you need to know is that Clinton said she would not privatize VA. This is a lie since VA is already largely privatized.

So what the hell is she really talking about?

  1. These establishment and the like comments are all the exact type of expressions I used back during the Reagan/Bush years. I mean exactly. It makes me conclude that depending who you favor, the other candidate or party is an establishment fascist. Fascism is apparently in the eye of the beholder. I am not sure it will help get anything done. I do believe the more you Include in any struggle, the greater your chances of success. I don’t believe either candidate is knowledgeable enough to even start to help so I am not looking to either for success in VA Reform.

  2. I wouldn’t trust a word Hillary says. She will say any damn thing to get elected. So will Trump which is why I’m not voting for either one. I will vote for Jill Stein. She is a doctor and has said that the VA is a sorry excuse for a medical system. She also wants reform of the VA benefits system. I don’t agree with her on a few things, but I agree far more than I disagree. And at least she has been consistent in what she has said. I prefer a truthful candidate over one who says what they think I want to hear, up until they are elected. Which is the way I feel about Hillary and Donald.

    1. @ Jim, +1 for your words & thoughts on Skillary about False Promises!

Thought Id share this little tidbit which very clearly shows both hers and Trumps weaknesses- but hers are just way too long and i am so damn amazed and shocked the American people don’t see thru her and all these blatant lies! TOTALLY unreal!

Question to ALL- What kind of America do you want?

“Trump is clearly not politically correct, is abrupt, not a polished politician, randomly mutters comments that offend many at times, is not liked by the majority of Washington establishment politicians, and is feared by those enjoying a lavish lifestyle under government employ. His opponent on the other hand is a documented liar, lacks integrity, lives within an aura of corruption suspicion, has accomplished virtually nothing during her numerous years of public service, despises authority and law enforcement, follows and practices the teachings of far left winged liberals, cannot comprehend the dangers of radical Islamist threats towards America, has no concern for a rapidly growing Federal deficit, believes wholeheartedly in big government regardless of the cost, has no concern with illegal immigration, claims to despise Wall Street yet lists them as her staunchest supporters and financial contributors, changes her position on important topics concerning American interests on a regular basis, staunchly supports NAFTA and free trade that has hindered American job opportunities, is against the development of American natural resources, supports a far left leaning Supreme Court, supports significant military budget cutbacks, totally supported Planned Parenthood’s decision to sell body parts from fetuses aborted, has continuously voiced her absolute approval of the current Affordable Health Care Policy regardless of the expense and problems it has created for middle class Americans, has no recorded successes as Secretary of State or as a member of Congress, has never displayed a bit of genuine concern for American veterans, has stated her candidacy represents an Obama third term, has a history of insulting, hateful, arrogant and spiteful behavior and the list goes on and on. Other than living within the political spotlight for many years what other attributes and significant accomplishments can she claim? Trump is difficult to like due to his brash, insulting and often offensive comments. Mainly because he calls it as he sees it. Might be something this country truly needs, What you see is what you get! No BS! Sorry, despite his politically incorrect behavior this man clearly does not carry the baggage Clinton would into the White House! Putting the annoying politically incorrect behavior aside, a Trump Presidency is less concerning of the two unfavorable candidates.”

Let this sink in for awhile eh?

  3. 1.IF Hillary is president: you wont see private lawyers anymore to handle claims for checks and balances that the DAV didnt do .

2.IF Hilllary is president: you will see all veterans with a fiduciary privatized by union workers to control assets.u wont even get to say how u will spend your money for your disabilities.(remember bill started the fiduciary program)

3.IF Hillary is president: you wont be allowed to bring your service animal in VA hospitals anymore nor family members

4.IF Hillary is president: and u have a mental or physical element that disregards u for employment you will have to live in government property houses controlled by Private business to control how u live funded by the VA.which means u will be moving out of state to live on the property or denied your benefits because as a impairment of such they will blame u for endangering your disability . (yea like a fema camp and there will be armed guards)

5.IF Hillary is president: As a veteran u will not be allowed SSI SSID if you came out the military disabled and did not find a job after or within the year . hillary will establish new union ties for VA employees to even keep there pockets safer from states and there so called “credibility”. Hillary will introduce more incompetent people to the new union to say she created jobs but in fact hired reckless people to kill off veterans cover up incentive and agenda.(YES HILLARY IS GOING TO REPLACE VA EMPLOYEE UNION AND VA EMPLOYEES WILL DO NO WRONG )she will give u an ultimatum social security or va benefits.she will find away..

6.IF Hillary is president: you will not or cannot replace your primary care doctor even if that doctor is from another third world nation and u cannot understand his or her English let alone his or her practice.

7.IF Hillary is president; it will not be safe for outpatient clinics because of poom threats, pomps and in fact arson or if not mass syooting developing rather quickly. with no one lone syooter but multiple syooters looking to take out VA head coordinators or any threat that stops them. i really believe this and its going to be the young veterans that cant get jobs to start grouping up and committing suicidal sabotage . i dont like that either and i pray it doesnt happen but its coming to that point ,its only a matter of time.

8.IF Hillary is president;you will see more veteran police officers have exercise authority within the U.S Marshall department and sheriff departments serve warrants to veterans that have outstanding medical bills within the VA or in fact veterans that have been incarcerated for along time and is out on parole.this probably wont happen for a while though am not sure .

9.IF Hillary is president;if u are in fact service-connected with 100% its likely you will have to argue with the va to pick up your meds rather than mailing,Hillary will stop the mailing system of VA medication and yes its getting extremely touching with the va and u will have to pay a fee just like the CVS once government insurance is established to the American people.

10.IF Hillary is president;here is the worst and final you will be paying for your VA benefits by way of money i thinking around 8% which is about 5.00 to 25.00 when shes switches the care and establishes the new union or overhaul the new union. thats right veterans you will be taxs some how for your benefits and she will find a way without affecting the laws that say else wise.

  4. Unless she named specific steps that she would take to resolve several problems within the VA, she did nothing more than offer some vague comments to pander to vets. Its what politicians think they have to do when appearing at veterans conventions. By being vague, nobody can ever point to specifics and say she has done nothing.
I already know how she had abandoned Gulf War vets. I see nothing whatsoever she is saying that suggests veterans will be helped by her administration. In fact, politics and history suggest she will do everything she can to ignore all vets within the VA. She tried in the 90s to create a government run health care system for the private sector and failed simply because Congress still had spines then. The VA has gone downhill since, and nothing as been done because of Obama Care…another government run health care system. She will change nothing to fix the VA because that means admitting there are problems in government run health care that government will not fix. To admit problems in the VA is to admit problems in Obama care. Losing either means a huge loss of control over people’s lives.
To think she has any detailed plan or intentions to fix the VA is delusional.

    1. @91Veteran
Do you remember that MIT guy who admitted “Obamacare was a SCAM” perpetrated on the American Citizens?!

    1. namnibor

You sure name call anyone a troll with an opposing point of view from yours. I thought this was a site were veterans could have discussions without fear of name calling. From what I have observed, this is a common practice from a few regulars on this site. Name calling is the norm for opposing points of view.

  5. @Crazy elf

Seems like no one on both sides of the aisle thought so. Many national security experts are very concerned with his statement especially in light that he will receive his security briefing in a day or two. Who knows what secrets will cross his lips after he gets that briefing? He shoots from the hip. “Believe me.”

    1. @rosebud
There were just as many claiming what I have dialogued about this issue.

You interest me. If you really believe Trump’s a “risk to national security”, over that one statement. What’s your thoughts on Hillary being a “threat”?

      1. Oh, and your last two words, “Believe Me”, proves one thing to me. You watched the DNC last night! So did I.
In my opinion, that was a “Childish Desplay of Cronyism” perpetrated upon all those who want to vote for Hillary. Just because she’s a woman!

    2. @rosebud
This morning the wife and I finally heard the “FULL SPEECH” by Mr. Trump over the “hacked DNC emails!”
Every person out there, especially the Democrats, are now eating crow over this issue.

It was disgusting over what was being said by and between many of the Democrats!
They should be ashamed of themselves!

If you’ve not heard the full speech, then your conclusion is misguided, to say the least!

There is so many “disgusting actions” by Democrats at the convention, it’s really hard to understand why anyone would vote for any of them!

  6. @ redturtle You just summed up my entire view of politics in general I have chronic IBS so my potty breaks are certainty more interesting than those debates for sure as painful or more so than watching them

  7. Benjamin, your title today, “Now, Hillary Clinton Finally Promises Veterans Affairs Reforms”, makes me wonder if the “Reforms” she is talking about will be to “Reform” (redefine) the very “wild conspiracy theories” she not too long ago spouted that they were and “out of proportion”??!
You know, “Reform” the “Problem”, also known as sweeping under the rug.

The Presidential Debates will be interesting to say the least. They may need to have a decibel alarm go off when the peak meters near the red. 🙂 Will definitely require much compression and limiting.

    1. I predict a 98.48% probability that I will engaged in an intellectual pursuit far exceeding those debates; I am gonna play my Playstation 4 and go online and kick the ass of some random twelve year old’s ass in the world connected to the same game I am. Then I am gonna message him and say how badly he sucks at the game and life in general. I might even text a momma joke. He will know my wrath!

The other few percent of the time will be potty breaks, equally as entertaining as those debates. This represents my total outlay of effort in this election.

      Go America!

      1. @rosebud

He was being facetious! Anyone listening to, or watching, him knew that!

  8. Crazy Elf, you certainly have a knowledgeable grasp of the history of the Democrat and Republican parties. Kudos to you, I did enjoy your essay. And, for the most part you are very accurate in your reporting …. it’s refreshing to hear a rant that is largely based on fact.
However, to promote either party as a ‘solution’ to the problems facing the VA gives all veterans the false hope that one party is better suited to ‘solve’ the problems that are inherent in the veteran services industry. ….. to quote Pat Buchanan, “the Republican Party and the Democrat party are just different wings of the same bird of prey”. Both want something from you: your vote, so, of course, both are trying to convince us that they could fix the ‘problem’. Neither candidate understands that the ‘problem’ is a politically borne system that has systemic deficiencies. The systemic problem is bigger than either candidate or party.
To assume that Donald Trump, (who famously and successfully dodged the draft then explained to Howard Stern that not getting VD in the 60’s was his Viet Nam) understands what its like to be a ‘veteran’ is absolutely absurd and pure fantasy. Further, to believe him is even more fantastical !! Veterans: trump is playing us like he did all of those people who paid thousands of dollars to be part of Trump University. From his point of view, we are the suckers who couldn’t dodge the draft ….. if you give this rich punk your vote, you are sullying the memory of all veterans, but especially to 58,000+ brothers who left their dogtags in country.
    Vote 3rd party

    1. You DO realize that ‘Third Party’, Bernie Sanders only threw salt on the wounds of the VA when he had a chance to make a difference and you are quoting one big bag of cronyism air, Pat Buchanan. HA! Keep sucking that Kool-Aid down. 🙂

Your comment about how bad of a Vet a person may be if voting for Trump comes across as defending a cookie jar under a bridge someplace and passive-aggressive. The VA is also bent the same way.

      GO TRUMP. GO TRUMP.

      1. when I said 3rd party, I was thinking Libertarian or Green ….. Trump is a 68 year old loud mouth punk who talks tough but never was ….what does a cookie jar under a bridge have to do with anything?

      2. Did you hear traitor Trump invited the Russians to hack Clinton’s e-mail? He actually invited foreign espionage to the United States of America! What a chump that Thump!

    2. @Tom
Thanks. Here’s something you might want to consider!

1.) If a person uses “Facts” in a hypothesis, it’s not, nor can be, considered a “RANT”!
      Definition: “Rant”, v., 1. To speak or write in an angry or emotionally charged manor.;
      2. To express at length a complaint or negative opinion., 3. If you say that someone rants and raves, you mean they talk loudly and angrily in an uncontrolled way!

I was not writing in an angry manor. Nor was I uncontrolled in my words!
I was trying, if you read my “foreword”, explaining the history of the two parties!
How they had morphed into something we see today. It was explained in a very “matter of fact” way! Evidently, you did not understand!

2.) The massive “systemic” corruption which permeates VA is due to a “contractual agreement” between a union and the VA employees!
As anyone knows, contracts can, and in this case, must be renegotiated! Or, as in the case of the air traffic controllers union – broken completely!

3.) I’d like to inform you of another person who was a “wealthy (alleged) draft dodger”! Someone who went to England to study law. Someone who was “expelled” from that prestigious school over a “verified rape”!
Someone who, after expulsion, went to Russia – twice! No one really knows why! Unless it was to stay out of the military, during the Vietnam War!
When, upon return to America, he resumed his education in law.
Later, he ran for a lower political office. Then, began running for attorney general of his state. Then governor. Then President.
Who, by the way, in his last two weeks in office “pardoned over 400 criminals”, one of which, went by the last name of “Rich”! (A fitting name for a criminal), Who was “on the run in Europe!’ These ‘facts’ are ‘on the books’! They have been verified, many times over!
(I left out numerous other ‘sordid facts’ about this individual, ie; “impeachment, NAFTA, (which lost millions of Americans jobs), multiple visits to “Pedophile Island”, “sordid extramarital affairs throughout his whole career” and more!)
The name I reference – William Jefferson Clinton!

Now, which one of these two have the worst history?
Which one would you prefer to “Grace the halls of the People’s House”?

I know you have some deep seated hatred for Trump. That’s OK. I take your opinion on his purported history.
Yet, one needs to sit back and research – then research more. Before one says things about one person, and not another!

P.S. Sorry, Pat Buchanan is not someone I’d want to use as a reference!

      1. Crazy Elf,
RE: #2, I disagree that the systemic corruption you reference is because of a union contract. The VA is a ‘something’ that was created by the political class to solve “the political problems” that veteran’s were creating (?) 80+ years ago. You see the veterans of the Indian Wars, the Spanish American War and WWI were literally ‘marching on Washington’ because of our government’s broken promises to veterans of those conflicts. The VA of today is exponentially better then its predecessor, the Veteran’s Bureau.

RE: #3, I could give 2 rats about Bill Clinton, I voted for the real George Bush (#41) and Bob Dole during the Clinton presidency because as veterans they were qualified to be the commander in chief. I find it difficult to believe that a person who was NEVER in the military could truly understand military discipline and responsibility. Perhaps, you are too young to remember the draft, unfortunately, I am not. When I think of the people who started the Iraqi wars (Cheney, Rumsfeld, Wolfowitz, etc) I am sickened by their collective attitudes during the Viet Nam era ….. all dodged the draft until they became too old for it. Yet, all of them had no problem sending somebody else’s son to fight for their war. Donald Trump is worse then them because he bragged about his deferments, at least the others just didn’t talk about it.

I have no ‘hatred’ for Trump, I disrespect his value system and his demagoguery. Richard Nixon’s 1968 promise (read: lie) that we would ‘stop spinning our wheels” in Viet Nam pales in comparison to the rhetoric of the Donald. Trump would be a disaster for America and no help for veterans. (side note: he thinks the VA should be there for those who got hurt in combat ….. not especially for people who got hurt in non-combat situations. Remember, Trump is the same guy that thinks being in a NVA prisoner of war camp is no big deal)

All I’m saying is don’t be sucked in by politicians of either party …. all they want is your vote.

        peace to you

      2. @Tom

I’m definitely not young. I do remember the draft. I joined the Army in 65. (Joined the Navy in 75!) Was two weeks into “basic” when I received my draft notice!

Oh, yea, I remember all the bull coming out of Washington. “If I had known then, what I know now!” You know that saying!
I remember, in 1968, being told, “Not to fire upon the enemy, even if being fired upon, Until you receive permission!”
I agree, we could have won that war, if the politicians had stayed out of it. But, too many were getting richer off of it!

        —————————–

Now, I’m looking at two individuals who are vying for POTUS. There’s others, only they have no chance. Third parties are a waste. Even if they have better ideas!

On one hand, you’ve got a corrupt to the bone female (?). Who destroys everything in her path.

On the other hand, there’s Mr. Trump. I like one specific idea of his. It’s his “10 point (VA) plan”, he wants to implement to correct the VA. (There’s a few more I like, border wall, Immigration, refugees etc.)
The union, if you have been keeping up on this site, is the MAIN reason, not the only reason, WHY VA employees keep getting away with stuff.
I have not seen anything, or have heard anything, over his “…wanting to only help those injured due to combat injuries…”, as you described. Can you give a reference?

I’m not going there with you over McCain.
I have met a number of individuals who personally knew “Songbird McCain” and “Kowardly Kerry”. Their blatant refusal, amoung other issues, to NOT help bring back ” “POW/MIA’s” is well documented! Let’s just stay away from that subject, OK!

        Peace to you also!

        P.S
Fact; the “Bonus Army” you reference is for only those who fought in WWI.
I hope I’ve hit all points!?

      3. @Tom
redturtle984, in his comment, posted at 3:43 pm today, shows exactly how powerful the AFGE Union is, “contractually”, amoung VA employees!
Read his comment, you’ll see exactly how powerful!

  9. This is lip service and damage control; that’s all. She’s had the influence to change the system in the past, and she has (as Ben mentioned) — generally for the worse.

If anyone has a tape or a transcript of her talking to AFGE officials in the past, I bet that would be an eye-opener.

    1. Stephen
IF she did talk to the AFGE, they would have had to “line her purse”! Trust me, from what has come out on her IRS statements, she don’t come cheap!

  10. Ever try to enforce sanctions for ethics and privacy violations in a government healthcare org which is steeped in union protections? You don’t talk to the employee – you talk to their rep who turns egregious violations into a hiccup. In that scenario, it’s part of the VA’s problem – not easy to fire malfeasance and incompetence.

The directors and above should have been tossed out the door under the current POTUS since McD doesn’t have the cojones. There have obviously been a lack of accountability at all levels.

    1. When confronted with a federal police officer and asked about the drugs she had passed me on the street, the VHA lady who did it was asked if she wanted legal representation before proceeding with the interview. She calmly stated, “No.” They asked her again if she did it. She said no. Then they produced the evidence with her handwriting and fingerprints on it in an envelope from her office with VHA letterhead on it with the pills still inside.

They asked again if she did it. She cried. She asked for an AFGE member to be present before continuing (not a lawyer). When she had spoken to her AFGE representative for a few minutes, she produced a written confession with (and this is KEY) the phrase, “I knew what I did was wrong.” The rest of the returned FOIA document shows multiple drug stashes found in their facility (another story).

My observation about this AFGE employee, who at the time was the suicide prevention coordinator for this facility, first lied to federal officers calmly and with great composure until proof that even VHA couldn’t deny was produced. I was told by VHA police that it is common for accused to lie until caught so I give her a pass on that.

However, what were her first instincts? She dismissed her Fifth and Fourteenth Ammendment rights I believe, even though the federal officers recorded that they had read from a VA form informing her of those rights. She tossed it away in moments in favor of union representation. Then she said what amounts to the “get out of jail free card” for all UFGE workers “I knew it was wrong.”

A two minute perusal of America’s website recruiting VA workers gives a clue why the AFGE union rep told my accused suicide prevention coordnator to call it “wrong”. Under benefits provided by America the website flatly states, “The US Govt. is responsible for any wrongdoing (of people employed by VA while they are on the job).”

My proof of how powerful the AFGE has become, is the simple fact that the AFGE representative advised my counsellor to immediately dispense with Constitutional protections in favor of contractual ones and the last I heard the case never went anywhere. Not a bad gig if you can stomache it.

I am sure that if I had not had evidence but just reported the crime that I would not have been charged with false reporting. Even if I had been charged I am sure at that point she would have stepped forward then and fessed up. So no ill will towards her, just aprehension when dealing with her buddies…

      Semper Fi

  11. Crazy Elf, Get on the team with Trump to clean up the VA. He could use a man like you. Bitch Hillary just became more evil when she called the Benghazi Mom a liar….she needs a good woman to put a boot in her murderous fat ass. Trump has been the great, unexpected wild card that the Republican Establishment never saw coming. So what if he cant give a great speech- he can assemble a great team. At this point in time, he is the best thing that has happened to America. I hope people laugh Clinton off the podium when she begins to mouth off these ponderous lies about cleaning up the VA hierarchy. Problem is— not enough Americans have taken the blinders off yet.

    1. Right-on, Mary!!!

I love the fact that Trump has acted akin to a large orange bowling ball smashing the cronyism dinosaur pins into such disarray, that even the Bush’s avoided the RNC Convention, as did my Gov. of Ohio, KissUassIck. 🙂

That very same cronyism at the VA and AFGE and all VSO’s are also looking downrange from the oncoming ICBM called Accountability and they are like rats on a sinking ship but these special mutant rats, coordinated by BVA Murphy, are nailing down new temporary deck chair reinforcements to the deck of the Titanic which obviously means we Vets are the exterminators. 🙂

I *love* the bowling ball effect. Good thing all these cronies have plenty of silver spoons to keep them pacified in their willfully abandonment of their RNC. I never thought I’d see a day when the Bush Family would boycott anything RNC. Hell, I am thinking the servants have been ordered to take down all blue interior furnishings and garnishes for the color gray. Poor things. 🙂

Shaken *and* stirred! Even if Trump does not win, the RNC is definitely more inclusive and diverse and that’s a great thing.

      1. I meant to say RED interior furnishings. Do not know HOW that happened. 🙂

Crazyelf- I consider myself non-party, but I have definitely settled 98% there on Trump. I must leave room for truth and scandal and dirt on both sides to keep things fair…but I would never vote for Skrillarry because IF she would win, this time it would be like having “Double The Fun-None Of The Pleasure” of -2- POTUS’s/Clintons and IF she would win it’s almost a good bet it would be an -8- shredding of America to Political Correctness, allowing VAST #’s of unvetted and potential terrorist/refugees into USA and more Clinton hits, including more than likely allowing all the same head rats at VA to remain.

        No thank you.

I want Trump to be like the Queen of Hearts in Wonderland and I will be the Cheshire Cat. 🙂

Crazyelf, you can definitely be The Mad Hatter, it’s only right thing to do.

  12. @Crazy elf Doesn’t matter to me what either party says if their mouths are moving they are lying, they both suck equally. We are not in the top 1% socioeconomically the laws are designed to screw us over. I refuse to drink the political kool-aid. AFGE, Demo-rats, Re-pube-lick-uns, VA, DOD, we are only good to them if we have a use e.g cannon fodder, getting the elected, ensuring their job security, lining their already obscenely deep pockets, once our usefulness to them has ended as far as they are concerned we can rot and die. The purpose of VHA is to kill us quietly and get as much research data they can and perpetrate the same on our heirs, least the ones dumb enough to serve.

    1. The Democrats just want to screw us over for somebody elses money! The Republicans want it the other way around.

  13. @ redtortuga(turtle) Gonna go barf now, I thought Chelsea was hatched from an egg that fell from the ugly tree, can’t believe ugh I can’t type it without vomit welling into my throat.

  14. This is the article I have been trying to get y’all to google. It definitely shows everyone what the Democratic Party, and some Republicans, have tried to pull for around 150+ years. If you’ll notice, the “agenda” of the Democrates, and a few Republicans, has been the “subjugation” of not only African-Americans. But, also anyone who has been “forced”, albeit subtly, onto ANY form of government subsidies, ie; welfare, food stamps, etc., and – could one also include VA compensation?! (It IS a form of government subsidies!)
I believe it was namnibor who asked if the AFGE Union had given money, members money, to the Democratic Party? In my opinion, “YES!” Why, because, since the founding of unions, corruption almost always occurs! And there is more corruption within the Democratic Party than the Republican Party! We see it, and hear it, almost daily now!
Do y’all not see their agenda? ie; keep the majority of people subjugated in any way possible! So they will be forced to vote Democrat!
I know it’s a long article. Yet, many don’t know their history!
    Enjoy, I did!

    ———————————————-

“A Short History of Democrats, Republicans, and Racism”

“The following are a few basic historical facts that every American should know.”

“Fact: The Republican Party was founded primarily to oppose slavery, and Republicans eventually abolished slavery. The Democratic Party fought them and tried to maintain and expand slavery. The 13th Amendment, abolishing slavery, passed in 1865 with 100% Republican support but only 23% Democrat support in congress.”

“Why is this indisputable fact so rarely mentioned? PBS documentaries about slavery and the Civil War barely mention it, for example. One can certainly argue that the parties have changed in 150 years (more about that below), but that does not change the historical fact that it was the Democrats who supported slavery and the Republicans who opposed it. And that indisputable fact should not be airbrushed out for fear that it will tarnish the modern Democratic Party.”

“Had the positions of the parties been the opposite, and the Democrats had fought the Republicans to end slavery, the historical party roles would no doubt be repeated incessantly in these documentaries. Funny how that works.”

“Fact: During the Civil War era, the “Radical Republicans” were given that name because they wanted to not only end slavery but also to endow the freed slaves with full citizenship, equality, and rights.”

“Yes, that was indeed a radical idea at the time!”

“Fact: Lincoln’s Vice President, Andrew Johnson, was a strongly pro-Union (but also pro-slavery) Democrat who had been chosen by Lincoln as a compromise running mate to attract Democrats. After Lincoln was assassinated, Johnson thwarted Republican efforts in Congress to recognize the civil rights of the freed slaves, and Southern Democrats continued to thwart any such efforts for close to a century.”

“Fact: The 14th Amendment, giving full citizenship to freed slaves, passed in 1868 with 94% Republican support and 0% Democrat support in congress. The 15th Amendment, giving freed slaves the right to vote, passed in 1870 with 100% Republican support and 0% Democrat support in congress.”

“Regardless of what has happened since then, shouldn’t we be grateful to the Republicans for these Amendments to the Constitution? And shouldn’t we remember which party stood for freedom and which party fiercely opposed it?”

“Fact: The Ku Klux Klan was originally and primarily an arm of the Southern Democratic Party. Its mission was to terrorize freed slaves and “ni**er-loving” (their words) Republicans who sympathized with them.”

“Why is this fact conveniently omitted in so many popular histories and depictions of the KKK, including PBS documentaries? Had the KKK been founded by Republicans, that fact would no doubt be repeated constantly on those shows.”

“Fact: In the 1950s, President Eisenhower, a Republican, integrated the US military and promoted civil rights for minorities. Eisenhower pushed through the Civil Rights Act of 1957. One of Eisenhower’s primary political opponents on civil rights prior to 1957 was none other than Lyndon Johnson, then the Democratic Senate Majority Leader. LBJ had voted the straight segregationist line until he changed his position and supported the 1957 Act.”

“Fact: The historic Civil Rights Act of 1964 was supported by a higher percentage of Republicans than Democrats in both houses of Congress. In the House, 80 percent of the Republicans and 63 percent of the Democrats voted in favor. In the Senate, 82 percent of the Republicans and 69 percent of the Democrats voted for it.”

“Fact: Contrary to popular misconception, the parties never “switched” on racism. The Democrats just switched from overt racism to a subversive strategy of getting blacks as dependent as possible on government to secure their votes. At the same time, they began a cynical smear campaign to label anyone who opposes their devious strategy as greedy racists.”

“Following the epic civil rights struggles of the 1960s, the South began a major demographic shift from Democratic to Republican dominance. Many believe that this shift was motivated by racism. While it is certainly true that many Southern racists abandoned the Democratic Party over its new support for racial equality and integration, the notion that they would flock to the Republican Party — which was a century ahead of the Democrats on those issues — makes no sense whatsoever.”

“Yet virtually every liberal, when pressed on the matter, will inevitably claim that the parties “switched,” and most racist Democrats became Republicans! In their minds, this historical ju jitsu maneuver apparently transfers all the past sins of the Democrats (slavery, the KKK, Jim Crow laws, etc.) onto the Republicans and all the past virtues of the Republicans (e.g., ending slavery) onto the Democrats! That’s quite a feat!”

“It is true that Barry Goldwater’s opposition to the Civil Rights Act of 1964 probably attracted some racist Democrats to the Republican Party. However, Goldwater was not a racist — at least not an overt racist like so many Southern Democrats of the time, such as George Wallace and Bull Connor. He publicly professed racial equality, and his opposition to the 1964 Act was based on principled grounds of states rights. In any case, his libertarian views were out of step with the mainstream, and he lost the 1964 Presidential election to LBJ in a landslide.”

“But Goldwater’s opposition to the 1964 Civil Rights Act provided liberals an opening to tar the Republican Party as racist, and they have tenaciously repeated that label so often over the years that it is now the conventional wisdom among liberals. But it is really nothing more than an unsubstantiated myth — a convenient political lie. If the Republican Party was any more racist than the Democratic Party even in 1964, why did a higher percentage of Republicans than Democrats in both houses of Congress vote for the 1964 Civil Rights Act? The idea that Goldwater’s vote on the 1964 Civil Rights Act trumps a century of history of the Republican Party is ridiculous, to say the least.”

“Every political party has its racists, but the notion that Republicans are more racist than Democrats or any other party is based on nothing more than a constant drumbeat of unsubstantiated innuendo and assertions by Leftists, constantly echoed by the liberal media. It is a classic example of a Big Lie that becomes “true” simply by virtue of being repeated so many times.”

“A more likely explanation for the long-term shift from Democratic to Republican dominance in the South was the perception, fair or not, that the Democratic Party had rejected traditional Christian religious values and embraced radical secularism. That includes its hardline support for abortion, its rejection of prayer in public schools, its promotion of the gay agenda, and many other issues.”

“In the 1960s the Democratic Party changed its strategy for dealing with African Americans. Thanks to earlier Republican initiatives on civil rights, blatant racial oppression was no longer a viable political option. Whereas before that time Southern Democrats had overtly and proudly segregated and terrorized blacks, the national Democratic Party decided instead to be more subtle and get them as dependent on government as possible. As LBJ so elegantly put it (in a famous moment of candor that was recorded for posterity), “I’ll have those niggers voting Democratic for the next 200 years.” At the same time, the Democrats started a persistent campaign of lies and innuendo, falsely equating any opposition to their welfare state with racism.”

“From a purely cynical political perspective, the Democratic strategy of black dependence has been extremely effective. LBJ knew exactly what he was doing. African Americans routinely vote well over 90 percent Democratic for fear that Republicans will cut their government benefits and welfare programs. And what is the result? Before LBJ’s Great Society welfare programs, the black illegitimacy rate was as low as 23 percent, but now it has more than tripled to 72 percent.”

“Most major American city governments have been run by liberal Democrats for decades, and most of those cities have large black sections that are essentially dysfunctional anarchies. Cities like Detroit are overrun by gangs and drug dealers, with burned out homes on every block in some areas. The land values are so low due to crime, blight, and lack of economic opportunity that condemned homes are not even worth rebuilding. Who wants to build a home in an urban war zone? Yet they keep electing liberal Democrats — and blaming “racist” Republicans for their problems!”

“Washington DC is another city that has been dominated by liberal Democrats for decades. It spends more per capita on students than almost any other city in the world, yet it has some of the worst academic achievement anywhere and is a drug-infested hellhole. Barack Obama would not dream of sending his own precious daughters to the DC public schools, of course — but he assures us that those schools are good enough for everyone else. In fact, Obama was instrumental in killing a popular and effective school voucher program in DC, effectively killing hopes for many poor black families trapped in those dysfunctional public schools. His allegiance to the teachers unions apparently trumps his concern for poor black families.”

“A strong argument could also be made that Democratic support for perpetual affirmative action is racist. It is, after all, the antithesis of Martin Luther King’s dream of a color-blind society. Not only is it “reverse racism,” but it is based on the premise that African Americans are incapable of competing in the free market on a level playing field. In other words, it is based on the notion of white supremacy, albeit “benevolent” white supremacy rather than the openly hostile white supremacy of the pre-1960s Democratic Party.”

“The next time someone claims that Republicans are racist and Democrats are not, don’t fall for it.”

The only thing I have done with this article, is put “quotation marks” on all paragraphs. I don’t want to be accused of “plagiarism”!
    As someone was recently!!!!!

  15. Yesterday, I put two articles on here.
Both from “Military.com”, written by Richard Sisk on 25 July 2016. Here they are again—–

    #1.)
“Clinton Defends G.I. Bill at Veterans Conference, Gets Weak Response”

While reading this article, I realized Hillary was actually being denigrated by some of the VFW members. Which, in my opinion, she deserved!
Her “flip-floping on important issues” is well known in the news medias! Only the MSM, (Main Stream Media), refuses, or rarely chooses, to showcase any of them!
    In 2008, when Hillary was running for POTUS, Obama actually said something we should all agree upon. He stated;
quote; “Hillary Clinton will say and do anything to get elected!” unquote!
To which, Hillary “returned fire” by saying, “Shame, Shame on you, Barrack Hussain Obama!”

There’s more in the article, where members “slam” her! Please read it.

    #2.)
“Candidates to Offer Competing Visions on Vet Care at VFW Convention”

Clinton spoke the day before Mr. Trump. Yet, his speech was better received compared to hers.
Example, During last nights “CBS’ Evening World News” broadcast. Mr. Trump talked a little about his “ten point plan” to help vets.
He diverted to Hillary’s “day before speech”. The response, “boo’s”, by some VFW members was immediately seen and heard. His response to them was epic – “I guess she didn’t go over to well!”, as he smiled! The audience applauded, laughed and cheered!

    ———————————————-

    Side note:
On yesterday’s blog, someone commented “Mr. Trump “…didn’t visit or donate…” to the 9/11 memorial site, (paraphrasing). She even said to “google it!” Basically, trying to discredit Mr. Trump.
This is complete horseshit. He did go down to the site, and he did donate!
Many individuals don’t realize how much Mr. Trump cares about people and the MANY issues that surround him. His daughter, Ivanka and others, made that perfectly clear when they spoke at the Republican National Convention!

Here’s a great example, IF y’all ever get a chance to visit “Graceland”, you’ll understand exactly what I mean!
I know, you’re saying that’s Elvis’ home. He “passed” in 1976. What does that have to do with Mr. Trump? If you’ve never been, here’s something y’all are unaware of. When you go into the “lower rooms”. There’s a large “wall of little plaques” you need to see. When you see it, you’ll understand! That’s all I have to say about this issue!

    1. Here’s something y’all might want to google.
      Titled;

“A Short History of Democrats, Republicans and Racism”

It gives a detailed account of what Democrats did for their constituents. Not a very good history, in my opinion!
If you’ve not been able to see “Hillary’s America”. By all means, please do!

      1. I think Billy Joel is one of Americas great cultural treasures and I look forward to the day when his picture is on the $10 bill instead of the young dude whose name I always forget.

Perhaps this icon of Americana was telling us something in the lyrics he offered up online for copying that I post here. I am not a songwriter so all the nuance that is built in may be lot on me, but I think that somehow the song captures for me the core of one of our candidates running for POTUS.

Billy Joel, She Is Always A Woman, Lyrics

“She can kill with a smile
She can wound with her eyes
She can ruin your faith with her casual lies
And she only reveals what she wants you to see
        She hides like a child
But she’s always a woman to me

She can lead you to love
She can take you or leave you
She can ask for the truth
        But she’ll never believe
And she’ll take what you give her as long as it’s free
Yeah, she steals like a thief
But she’s always a woman to me

Oh, she takes care of herself
She can wait if she wants
        She’s ahead of her time
Oh, and she never gives out
        And she never gives in
        She just changes her mind

        She will promise you more
        Than the Garden of Eden
        Then she’ll carelessly cut you
        And laugh while you’re bleedin’
But she’ll bring out the best
And the worst you can be
        Blame it all on yourself
Cause she’s always a woman to me

Oh, she takes care of herself
She can wait if she wants
        She’s ahead of her time
Oh, and she never gives out
        And she never gives in
        She just changes her mind

        She is frequently kind
        And she’s suddenly cruel
She can do as she pleases
        She’s nobody’s fool
        But she can’t be convicted
        She’s earned her degree
And the most she will do
        Is throw shadows at you
But she’s always a woman to me”

footnote; Ben, you brought this on yourself when you posted her photo! Damn you man! DamnYou! Skipping breakfast now. Must shower.

  16. I wish my memory was not ao good. I still vividly remember the clinton orgsnized crime family from the 90’s then maybe I would vote for her. (Not).

She will do and say anything to line her pockets no matter what. I can not remember a politician who lies more than her that includes tricky dick.

Hood luck to us all if she lies her way in, there are alot of ignorant non patriots who will vote for her.

  17. Dear Madame Clinton,

Thank you for running for President. You seem American enough to me and while I cannot say that I even know any of your positions on matters I can say I have seen your face enough on all manner of things that even I know your first name. You have not given me leave to use it, so I won’t.

As far as first names go, I saw a quote from that you acknowledged knowing many of us who feel more or less let down by America, or more precisely have felt betrayed by VA Americans and foreigners who have let us down by allowing our brothers to die before their time. I am encourage, Madame, that you know many of us and I am hoping you can help me with a eulogy? Several of us decided to end their lives believing that America had let them down. I am hoping to include the names of the still living in my eulogy; will you help?

Since you know “many” of us, can you give me the first names of just three? No? Let me start off with just one. His name was Edgar.

    Sincerely,

    One Of Many

    1. Madame Clinton used a speech device in which you place the real message for the listener in the first part, generally with a long pause, followed by the long faery dust part. It is a decptive process insofar as the message intended is not the message perceived.

She wants the message to be simply “I know a lot of you.” All the blah blah blah parts after are faery dust. This is by design and indicates a quick cunning consistant with her history. I have secere PTSD, Madame Clinton but that does not mean that I am cognitively impaired. It just means I have horrible nightmares and jump when somebody comes up behind me. You have indeed represented Americas interests at home and abroad but I just cannot believe you know a lot of us.

      1. Common Language Is Not Truly Obviously Necessary is commonly shortened to the CLINTON effect…

  18. Clinton’s breath must smell like a north end orifice of a south bound cow from all the bovine faecal matter she spews, is there such a thing as a preemptive impeachment because you know she has already Lewinsky’ed the electorate. Popular vote doesn’t matter and anyone who believes it does has been drinking the bong water. Trump won’t win, he can’t. He was just there for a show, to blind “We the people” the disenfranchised, disowned, because the “head” has totally lost touch with the “feet” The very foundations of our society. The right to vote is the biggest LIE perpetrated against Americans.

  19. Great “Bad VA Art” today, Ben. The words on their heads saying “SUCKERS” is most appropriate because it’s same old lamprey and leaches with a different song and dance.
Hungry, Hungry Hippos…for votes. Nothing else.

I am truly looking forward to the Presidential Election Debates because specifically on Veteran Issues, Trump will rip her a new one where the servers don’t shine. 🙂

  20. >> I wish she would have said that to the families of veterans killed by the wait list scandal.

did she not lie to the faces of the family members of dead Benghazi ( cia–consulate/annex ) defenders? i doubt she will tell the truth to families of veterans killed by VA wait list scandal.

BurnBernie, as i’ve written before, gave VA carte blanche on zero accountability at VA along with blank checks. I’m all for VA being funded well but the screwing with veterans that has been documented over decades is an American Disgrace. Any veteran or their family/caregiver that’s been burned by the VA thuggery tactics knows all too well what I mean even if I can’t express it written or verbally.

darn straight she is only “verbalizing” her 180-turn around due to Trump and the avalanche of news stories supporting the veterans and their claims of BAD VA! knowing the lib democrats of today, i doubt she will enforce any real change at VA, especially accountability or the corrupt VA benefits division. Did she when she was first lady? Nope. Did she when she was NY senator? Nope. Did she as SoS? Nope. I suspect hillary gave more of her attention and taxpayer money to Egypt’s muslim brotherhood than to to American Veterans and their plights.

i could be wrong but i didn’t hear anyone in the crowds at DNC speak of veterans issues. i admit, i couldn’t stomach or process a lot of what i heard via network news showcasing the DNC so i probably missed something.

    >> Didn’t she previously discount whistleblower claims about veterans being killed in VA only to blame Republicans?

she must have @Ben. because she and her party and too, many republican-frauds discounted those claims. i say discounted in respect to no one at VA faced accountability. not really. a few scapegoats as usual but no real change. And how many were notified and then allowed to “retire”?

    >>This is a lie since VA is already largely privatized. So what the hell is she really talking about?

beats me but i come here to your blog and a couple others to help my brain sort these things out in some form of rational context. i kid you all not, listening to and watching the DNC i get dumbfounded from a veteran’s perspective and also average citizen perspective. if some of these people (politicians) aren’t poster child’s of the craftiest liars and power hungry villains i don’t know what is.

glad you brought it up & shared the militarytimes article. honestly, as i listened and read a bit on what hillary and her convention said i kept thinking i got to go check @Bens log and see what some of the folks here were thinking. i see we’re gonna need a bigger boat, thankfully!

    1. Hillary Clinton hospitalized after doctors discover blood clot and this was right after Benghazi. she also has a mental illness that is not disclose only reason why they wont disclose it because of HIPAA law. she would of sued the media of they found out about her medical records but i know for a fact from the nurses at the hospital she was in that here progress notes indicated she does have a mental illness.

  21. “[So what the hell is she really talking about?]”

Nothing to see or hear of substance because it’s nothing but the Clinton Machine doing two things: 1) Pandering to AFGE Union in assuring she will NOT reform their guaranteed ca$h cookie jar, and 2) Pandering for votes of Veterans in trying to come across as “VA Reform, Light Calorie Edition”!!

    LIES. ALL LIES!!!!!

See how quick she has *somewhat* flip-flopped on her “wild conspiracy stance”?

HOW MUCH Veteran’s Blood Money was paid by the AFGE to the Clinton Machine with future promises?

Clinton has not swayed my thinking nor will she. Don’t you love how they so quickly came to the blame game on the Russians for hacking the DNC emails and wikileaks? Painted/Painting the dialogue that Putin hates Clintons, blah, blah, blah, blah, and BLAH!!!!!!!!!!

I truly believe it’s time for a Donald Trump for four years and shake things upside down and kick the rats off the V.A. Titanic.
At least if Trump wins we can make damn sure to hold his words to action as leverage for our plight.

I want to believe. But…”The truth is out there”! Hillary is a flip-flopping LIAR. ALL FOR DAMN VOTES.

    1. TO ALL VETS HILLARY FOR PRISION 2016 THESE CLINTON RATS NEED TO BE IN FEDERAL PRISION ASAP VIDIO ON YUTUBE CLINTION CASH $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ GOOD VIDIO ON THE CLINTION 2 BILLION $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ FOUNDATION SCAMS FRUDS @ RIPP OFFS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    2. All I need to know about whether she will take action to clean up the VA is contained in that interview with Maddow.
At the time she did that interview, Phoenix, Tomah and many other scandals were well publicized and known. If I recall correctly, Obama essentially said the same thing…Republican attacks so they can privatize…I believe Hillary just repeated that ignorantly because she truly never bothered to learn the details. Her default position was political.
That she claims she will do…something…at this point shows she is pandering, but will never really truly say what she will do in order to protect the AFGE.

  22. Hillary lies and is full of establishment crap……………….
